As crazy as it sounds, it likely all comes down to an inch or two of height. Being the guy is 6'4", some of the scouts have likely questioned whether he has the length to play tackle. But apparently after our coaches took a good look at the kid, they don't consider this to be any issue.
Yeah sounds like he's a tweener. Im guessing his ranking reflects some of the evaluators uncertainty about how he will transition to a college tackle or will he play guard? And if he translates to a guard that's a position he's never played. He's a bit raw already being he didn't start playing until his soph year so if he plays guard at the next level then he's even that much more behind the learning curve. So a 2* ranking prob means he's too raw to know where he's gonna play in college and if he's gonna have the appropriate size and tools to play it. Sounds like we like him at tackle though.
The thing that should matter for Offensive Tackles is the quickness of hands and feet and athleticism and Dolcine has all 3.

What is an inch of height difference going to matter? I never imagined that it is as big a difference as the scouts and articles say. They note his good arm length as well. Is it the equivalent of a 6'-6" power forward in basketball? Just trying to understand, for anyone who knows... What is prototypical?
Since he has only been playing a short time I would think the learning curve in college would be about the same at either guard or tackle.Changing positions would be less of a big deal since he has only played a couple of years.
Its crazy IMO.. Gary williams was a good left tackle at 6'3"..
OL is one position that * really don't matter as much.. Take richardson kroch as 4* Larubbio a high 3* ect. Now if i remember correctly stallings was a 2* mosier unranked and toth a 2* ect.. The list could be long!
You just never know how these big guys finish out there development. And which actually can compete at a sec level. Who has the toughness tenacity and work ethic to be the best!
I see him as a versatile talent who can play multiple positions. Thats very valuable in its self..
