Essex @ William Campbell. I want to see this one soooo bad. Pretty sure both teams staters will get some serious playing time in this one being that the season kicks in next week. Just to far to travel for just a scrimmage in my book.

Wow, 3 hours and 15 minutes by car, and in a bus, more like 3:50 minutes. Essex ain't playing around. Thats for sure. They want a quality opponent and the coach wants to see how they stack up, and so he is willing to travel to do it.

Could be a dangerous game , due to possibility of a possible post season matchup , Only William Campbell benefits from this. Good luck to both teams i hope all the kids come out injury free.

Just to followup on Whudey's post on the Chilhowie/Ridgeview game, this will be a very strong test for Chilhowie. Ridgeview is 2A, and had a 9-2 season last year. This year they are picked high in their district, with several strong players. The most notable is the Adkins kid, a 6'2 190 Soph RB who has offers from several big time D1Schools already. They have a stable of other backs who preformed well in their blowout scrimmage over Lebanon. The coalfield schools are tough to beat on their home turf.

If Chilhowie is going to make another run this year, they need to perform well against teams like Ridgeview.
Chilhowie does NOT have a cup cake schedule with Marion, JI Burton, Virginia High, GW, Patrick Henry, and Eastside to deal with, along with a good bunch of district schools. I hope CHS can play well, and avoid any serious injuries.

West Point only has 14 healthy bodies after Poquoson scrimmage. Doesn't make sense to play another meaningless scrimmage when their numbers are so low. They need to get healthy for regular season. Once it starts, they have no bye week. They have to play 9 games in a row until scheduled Chas City game which I understand is not fielding a team.

While it may make sense for West Point not to have another scrimmage, it was not a meaningless contest for Northumberland. It was the only scrimmage I believe that NHS was going to have.

Not sure what some think, but I have always considered scrimmages an important part of preseason preparation...

Curious, why does only WC benefit? I look at scrimmages as practice, see what you have and what need to be worked on. And isnt WC supposed to be RH biggest comp in B?

I got the schedule from the Shenandoah dist website. Yours is probably the updated schedule. Looks like they just switched the games for Fort and Amelia. Thank you

My guess is that they plan the schedule so that the teams that travel the greater distances can leave first. Of course looking at Saturday's weather forecast and thinking about all the storms we have had this summer, I worry about the Big Red's chances to get both their scrimmages in. I remember us getting rained out either last year or the year before.
