Magna Vista @ Salem Aug 18th benefit game.

Do you happen to know for certain the time and location of the Brookville scrimmage on August 11? I've seen both am and pm, in both Salem and Brookville.

I'm glad they've dropped the three-team scrimmages. Those weren't much fun to watch when one was really only interested in one team; I can't speak for the coaches, but I would guess that they found the three-team set-up kind of a waste of time.

GW Danville plays the Heritage Pioneers on the 11th. For anybody in the Southside, if the scrimmage set up is ANYTHING like past GW/Heritage scrimmages then it's going to be interesting to watch. Full field, kickoff, punt returns, LIIIIIIIVE baby!! The MV/Salem benefit game will in deed be the best benefit game in the whole state

Are scrimmages typically open the public? If so, how many people usually attend? I couldn't find anything on the VHSL website.

I don't know of any restrictions to the public. But, I am unaware of any requirement to unlock the gates, restrooms, etc. I would assume that it all comes down to whatever the home site Coach and AD want to do.

I've never been turned away, but it's about 50/50 if there will be anyone selling water or other refreshments.

I have never heard of a closed scrimmage in the Richmond area unless its a team scrimmage. There was a nice crowd at both of our (Dinwiddie) scrimmages last year. About 75 Dinwiddie faithful traveled 3 hours to Lord Botetourt (did I spell that right?) and our tri-scrimmage with LC Bird and Henrico always draws football fans from across the Metro area.

The biggest crowd I have witnessed for a scrimmage was 3 years ago at VA Beach Sports Complex with Indian River, Heritage NN, Ocean Lakes and Dinwiddie going at it. The talent on the field and buzz from crowd was a fans dream.

On a sad note a Henrico HS player drowned yesterday. Keep the Warriors in your prayers.

Amherst plans on selling drinks, water, popcorn and candy. Just the basics

Not sure if they will be selling refreshments Saturday at Randolph Macon (HSHS vs N. Stafford jv 8am, Varsity 10 am), but the will at Highland Springs at the benefit game with Thomas Dale. Which, I am pretty sure that the times are 5 pm JV kickoff, 7 or 7:30 for Varsity kickoff. Thursday Aug. 10... $6 at the gate.
