No one should use that word imo. Even the -a form of it.
I know it seems to be a term of endearment and like “dude” to them but man I don’t like hearing it. It’s an ugly word with and uglier past. And that’s not being woke. That being mindful of history and how many Americans struggled (and even DIED) for equality and not to be looked at as inferior. Men like Medgar Evers were gunned down in front of their own children for such “audacity” as wanting to be seen as equals.
So call me whatever you want but I’ll never be ok with anyone using that word in the real world.
I don't need to tell you this, but for some here the word "woke" doesn't even come close to meaning what they think it does.
