Obviously he's one of the best and wrote a book on the issue. Here's one thing he says in the book:
“If a quarterback is sacked quite a bit in college, per drop back, you can improve that some,” Payton says in the book. “But it generally means the processing is a little delayed.”
Not sure how many sacks Brees or Nix had in college, but they both played on bad teams and were/are exceptional QBs.
