Howard all the way. They have him locked up.

JK, I know zilch. But these posts are ridiculous. “Hey he’s heard from these 25 schools” yeah, I’m sure most kids in the portal hear from a crap tin of schools. Post when he narrows it down to the 5 or so finalists.

I had noticed that as well.
I hope he doesn’t make the shaka smart mistake from Shakas Texas era. He suddenly could recruit top 5 classes and he abandoned his VCU style and system and it failed miserably…he’s got back to playing the style that made him successful since being at Marquette

Kentucky reaches out. Pope seems to be reaching out to a lot of guys who can’t shoot. But maybe Stewart is promising

I think both Stewart and Power would likely be good PF options for somebody - especially if you could combine them. Aside from shooting from ANYWHERE (a big aside, I know), Stewart otherwise looks like a good traditional PF. He rebounds and moves very well. Defense is going to be a plus too. TJ Power, on the other hand, looks to be about the exact opposite. He looks like he could bring the stretch part of a stretch-4 but is weak as a kitten in the paint. Still, another year of development and a team might really have something with one of these guys. But yeah, I think how they would be used is going to be a big factor in how valuable either would be.

What a list lol.

Get Back to me when he eliminates a couple conferences
I wonder if some of these are just in the wording. Pope said his phone is staying busy. I wonder if some of these players who are initiating the call. Looks good to have several schools on your list where you have you talk to them.

I'm all for casting a wide net, but we need more shooters. I don't want a front court full of non-shooters. One is acceptable if surrounded by shooters, but I don't want multiple. That's the beauty of Pope's offense unless he changes that which I don't want or expect. As a fan, I'm just gonna have faith that Pope knows what he's doing.

I think we are pursuing the two English players. If so, then UK is just a name, among many, that contacted Stewart just to say “hello.”

I’m guessing our coaches have reached out to several players, but are focusing on a much smaller group.

The Duke staff put a ton of work into this kids development this year. They really liked him. He definitely wasn’t better than Mark Mitchell to start the year, but was showing flashes down the stretch and played well. I think he’s better than Mark Mitchell now. Big big add for whoever lands him.

Even in blowouts Stewart didn't play many minutes. Dukies were saying he probably wasn't feeling the love. Wanted more spot mins to develop to feel better about his future with the program.
Much like UK for years, it becomes a dilemma when loaded recruiting classes come in because guys don't wanna be recruited over.

When I watch BYU games from the big12, 2 things really stood out. No inside presence, and no guard that could beat his defender off the dribble. I think pope knows without that it'll be hard to make any tournament run.

I believe he will get some shooters, but he may not depend on his shooters as much!
Still think you will get a lot of off the ball action, but those bigs will make it more efficient!

Pope utilizes shooters, 100%. His offense values shooters and the spacing they provide. But they did get eliminated by Duquense because they struggled to make perimeter shots AND they couldn't drive by Duquense

You need dudes who can be dynamic with the ball, can cut into open space, can attack the offensive glass, and dudes who can guard!

If you only have shooters, they're going to struggle to get open without some driving gaps and attacking space

Pope probbly had to rely a bit on the outside game being at BYU. Things have changed drastically for Pope and what he's able to do. I would be he's not going to pidgeon-hole himself into being specifically 3pt shooting heavy. Who knows, in a year or two, he might be getting attention from some top25 guys.. and some of them might not be great shooters, but can do everything else extremely well.

Pope will have to be fluid here, and I believe he will be.

Heard Stewart will be visiting UC soon, he's friends with Jizzle James from playing AAU together in Florida.

They shot the 3 52% of the time. Their offense was pure analytics: 3s and shots at the rim.

Ok, and like I said, shooters don't just stand at the 3-pt line and the other team allows you to shoot open 3s. You need guys to create shots. So not everyone Pope recruits/brings in is going to be a knock-down 3pt shooter. And when you miss shots, you want guys to grab offensive rebs and attack the rim. Does that make sense?

Nate Oats, same thing, and he said this at the Final 4 - casual fans just talk about how many 3's they take. It's much more than that - they get open 3s BECAUSE they attack the rim. The 3's they want to take are inside-out 3's - kicked out from the paint

When the Warriors were at their peak - with the "Splash Bro's" setting NBA records for 3's made - they led the entire NBA in paint touches. How do you get open 3's - you get the ball to the paint and collapse the defense

BYU had post guys who were big in girth. A handoff from the center was a decent screen for a shot. The BYU offense also relied on the unexpected as well as the unguarded.
