We sold nearly 500 season tickets last week and we feel certain we will reach our announced goal of 40,000-plus season tickets. With our individual game ticket requirements now coming into a little better focus, the ceiling for season ticket sales this season is somewhere between 42,000 and 43,000. So, depending upon how we finish these last two-plus weeks, and how many tickets the students end up buying, we may hit our season ticket sales maximum. What a great statement about the Mississippi State family!

Aside from the good news that they project to sell over 40,000 season tickets, why is 42-43,000 the max in a 55,000 seat stadium? Is it because we have to allot 12-13,000 for visitors under SEC rulues?

Thanks.

because I have also been confused by season ticket information disseminated from the Ath Dept. My "understanding" is that student tickets are not included in the "season ticket" numbers publicized by the AD (although I have read some posts here that lead me to believe my understanding is wrong). Assuming the student tickets are not included in the number, then you've got several thousand (7,500 ?) tickets dedicated to students. Then you've got visitor tickets and opposing team band seats that factor in. These eat up the difference.

I am willing to stand corrected.

Every season ticket number Byrne has given us all along includes an estimated 10,000 student tickets. The reason the max for season tickets is about 43,000 is because we need 12,000 tickets for the visiting teams, player guests, etc.

My guess based on what is said there:

If you want a season ticket, you are given priority up to a certain point over anyone who wants an indiviual game ticket. However, that certain point has passed. Individual game tickets have gone on sale. Once you sell an individual game ticket, you can no longer sell that particular seat as a season ticket. So, maybe we've sold enough individual game tickets to a particular game (probably Bama) to reduce the number of possible season tickets to 43,000.
