I knew those tailgate chalets were going to FAIL. People aren't buying season tickets, so who thought that those lipstick on a mobile homes would be a hit?

Our office laughed our flippin arses off when the email went around about those "chalets". Who in the hell would buy one??

I dropped my season tix, but bought single game seats for Southern Miss and USC. After that, I will wait and see.

Yeah, that was a pretty easy one to call. The good thing here is that UK isn't really "losing money" unless they have acted like Government and spent projected income before it materialized [winking]. They are simply not making any on what was a very minimal investment (if any at all).

Peace

This just magnifies the important of this upcoming season, and especially the Sou. Miss game. No matter how fancy the trappings, people aren't going to pay to watch a ****** football team year after year. It really is a "show me" season for Stoops (and Barnhart).

If there was ever a time to be excited about UK football, it's now and moving forward.

We've been rebuilding and our fans point to the recent rebuild years as a reason to quit believing without understanding what it actually means. I've enjoyed the last few years watching the subtle, yet consistent improvement of OUR team. It's not as fast as some have wanted, but it is lasting improvements.

This X 1000 especially when ticket and parking passes have exponentially increased in price over the last 10 or 15 years.

Not saying it doesn't have something to do with the team but people not going to games is a reality that will continue everywhere. There is so little regard shown for the people that actually attend the games that it is inevitable. It's a TV show now, not a sport.
IMO I Disagree. If we win (or even entertaining and playing very competitive ) they will come.
UK has very passionate fans and are dying for a competive team. But, they have finally decided that this extreme passion should not be wasted (time and $)
An example is my AZ Cardinals and PHX Suns. When they are bad...lots of empty seats. But when they are entertaining and playing well; every game is a sellout.

I know UK might not like it but they need to really promote the mini season packages at this point. Get fans there. I anticipate a bowl season with a young but experienced group. I think headed upward nd this year kick starts it. Talked to a friend of mine who didn't even know those packages were available. He works some Sats so it was perfect for him

I'm starting to worry the really passionate fan of 20 years ago, who would pack the stands for a 4-6 team is not around any longer. I think some have gotten too old or have given up and now we are having to "rebuild" the passionate fan base.

We use to sell out no matter how bad the team was and have 60,000 strong in the freezing cold when we were sitting on a 2-5 record. If we started the season 2-5 we would be lucky to get 20,000 fans on a cold day.

I'm not saying we don't have great fans, I just think we may need to "rebuild" the fan base and UK may have to think outside the box to get them back. I hope people understand what I am referring to...

As someone mentioned earlier TV is making it harder to justify spending on the experience. Especially when games last longer and longer now. They're the longest they've ever been in the history of the game. Maybe I have old age onset ADD, but I have problems sitting still and focused for 4 hours (without a cold beer).

string of losing seasons plus an unattractive home slate. what's our best visitor coming to town for 2016?
I knew those tailgate chalets were going to FAIL. People aren't buying season tickets, so who thought that those lipstick on a mobile homes would be a hit?
oddly enough I have no doubt the luxury boxes, club seats, luge seats are completely sold out & with a waiting list for any openings.

Went to the UF game last year. All expenses ended up being over $600. Tickets, hotel, food, gas, etc. Tough pill to swallow watching them blow yet another victory from those Gators.

Spent an entire weekend traveling to and from the game, etc. Its just a hassle when your team constantly finds ways to lose games. Much easier to stay home and watch it in the comfort of my home on my enormous HD tv. Takes only a few hours out of my weekend and on to whatever else I have planned that weekend. Much cheaper and less stressful.

Ticket prices overall have been very gradual and still lowest in the SEC I believe. Though depending on seating, donations have increased. Parking has gone up every year. The $300 donation to keep parking in the Green lot this year floored me.

UK did some of this to themselves. Taking away parking passes and moving peoples seats after the renovation didn't go over well. I know at least 20 people that left when that happened and they will NEVER come back.

I did give up my season tickets because I know I cant make every game but I will still come when I can.

Very true that game length is a big problem. And not having a cold beer around is something UK & the SEC bring on themselves. Always complain about revenue yet don't allow it. Might add 5K season tickets by itself. Crazy. Really hard to feel sorry for them with this attitude.

Also note that 2015 season ticket numbers were in inflated by the new stadium hype. That's over. A better comparison might be 2016 with 2014 numbers.

Well, OK, technically, that might be true solely for the tickets, but the required donations for the good lower bowl seats I had have sure gone up. I now live within walking distance of the stadium, so gave up my parking pass a few years ago. I heard the passes went from $300 to $600 or so.

If that is true, then my two 20 yard line seats with a blue lot parking pass which I had until 2011, would run me about $2000 this season. I cannot remember exactly what I was paying then, but am certain that is way more than I was paying in total for the same seats and parking pass just five years ago. And yet the product on the field is just about the same . . .

I've said this before but the redistribution of tickets split up a lot of long term friendships. I went last year but I really didn't care for the people sitting around me and finally the UL game was a killer. Watching the UL team dance during timeouts when they were behind but everyone in the stadium knew they would win was more than painful. Awful play, terrible coaching and an AD who insulted the football fan base repeatedly finally did me in. I dropped my tickets after over 30 years. I love the Cats and football but the cost and product was way over the line.

That is very true. UK is not like our southern brethren in football. From Gainesville to College Station there is only one sport: football. Baseball is popular, but spring football and recruiting has everyone's undivided attention. We will never have that. But, we can compete and win. We are the most completely competitive school in the SEC. The basketball program is off the chart popular on a national scale. We play to sold out arenas everywhere.

But, football can succeed and be a program we are all proud to support. We clearly have the facilities and the coaching staff to develop and play to win.

"The basketball program is off the chart popular on a national scale." Untrue
"Football can succeed and be a program we are all proud to support. We clearly have the facilities AND THE COACHING STAFF to develop and play to win." I'll give you one of these and not the other and I'm ALREADY proud to support the program.

Revenue drives everything, but you would think UK would give football fans a break somewhere with all the additional revenue from the SEC and TV coming in. Instead, they just keep finding more ways to get every dime they can from the fans.

I had phone calls and emails asking me why I didn't renew this year and I told them a lot.

I honestly believe that this corresponds directly to Louisville getting better at football. People like me are fed up with watching them succeed(however they're doing it) while we have pretty much the same football program we did in the 80s.

From my experience, it doesn't take recruits or facilities or fan support to become a great football team. All it takes is one great coach. That's it. A great coach makes great things happen on the football field and that's when a program is born.

Louisville has had the luck of hiring special coaches, and over time they've built a real football program while we're looking for the cheapest hires that will gimmick fans into filling CWS for a few years.

Curry cashed in with an early retirement here but we bought his hype.
Mumme was gimmick and hype.
Morris showed promise but was too expensive.
Brooks was a hired as a cheap has-been who ended up being our best coach.
Joker was cheap and brought the local boy hype.
Name recognition seems to have been Stoops' greatest selling point.

We're sick of it. Spend some money and go get us a damn football coach!
