I just don't see it. He also took Oklahoma's regional away and gave it to Clemson, which is possible, but Kansas State has to be watched there as well.

Need to win three this weekend.

First - I'd rather us host in Starkville

There's no question that hosting a regional is the best option for all of us.

But - if we have to play anywhere else, Mobile would be a good place to land. You would see tons of maroon there, because it's an easy drive to make. Also - that ballpark is nice.

I was at Stanky in April, and it's not that bad. It's not Dudy Noble, but it's much nicer than what it used to be. Back in 2001, it was wooden bleachers and a small press box behind home plate (like a high school park). Since then, they've done some nice things there. I'm not saying it's the best venue by any means, but I'm sure there are worse (if it was horrible, they wouldn't be in consideration to host).

Hank Aaron stadium, where the Bay Bears Play, is a nicer venue that would hold more people (and would be a better option). But Stanky ain't what she used to be.

I'm a lot more concerned with playing in a winnable regional than in a nice ballpark. And if we're not hosting, South Alabama is as good as we could hope for.

I would assume that USA would host at Hank Aaron.

They certainly could, but I think we can easily get that host slot for them and see them as a 2 seed. 7-3 will do it.

I was there in 2011. It's nice, but I don't think it has capacity or parking to support a regional.

But I may be spoiled by MSU.

Bear in mind, sebaseball has a TON of Arkansas fans on their message board. Or at least they used to- I stopped looking at it because I got tired of hearing about how awesome Arkansas baseball was. I imagine that may have skewed the opinion of the writer to a degree based on how whiny they were about PG giving us a regional over them because of our RPI and SOS despite having fewer SEC wins and losing the series to them on the road.

I've never heard anyone taking their projections very seriously.

Hell I don't even see why they are being considered to host in front of us right now anyway...they are 34-12 we are 33-13 with a head to head win against them, a hell of a lot stronger schedule and better venue as well. They do have an extremely easy schedule to finish out the season so maybe he's looking ahead as far as record but I definitely don't feel like they are the better ball club

It's the NCAA's version of affirmative action. They clearly don't deserve to host, but their RPI is #16 (I know it's a ******** formula but somehow their RPI is #16), so I bet they've got a good chance to host.

There again though, our's is 11...we still have some prettytough competition left to so oour RPI could get better. I don't see much of an opportunity for their RPI to get much better if at all. The toughest opponent they have left is Louisiana Lafayette. If we do well this weekend and take at least 2 from both Alabama and USCe they won't have much of an argument anyway, IMO...

I agree. But if you're going to give spots to lower conference teams that don't really deserve it, you're going to have to take them away from major conference teams that do. I remember they did this year ago with USM and Baylor. They sent Baylor to the Hattiesburg regional as the #1 seed. That shows they even admitted that Baylor deserved to host and USM didn't.

Damn, I forgot about that. That'd be our luck. They'd have to be out of their minds to not give the spot to a team with higher RPI & SOS that just had another attendance record though. But like you stated, crazier things have happened.
