Here are the 1st and 2nd teamers:

Rich Proythress, UGA - .379, 21 HR, 77 RBI, 0.467 OBP
Nick Ebert, SC - 0.341, 22 HR, 70 RBI, 0.488 OBP

Connor Powers - 0.301, 19 HR, 63 RBI, 0.411 OBP

Powers had an unreal year, but the two guys ahead of him at his position had better years as crazy as that is.

it's my "maroon colored glasses" but that site seems a little biased to some teams like Arkansas.

Just trying to explain why Conner Powers might have gotten left off the list.

in conference play, Powers was 3rd in Slug Pct, 4th in RBIs, and 1st in HR.

I think that deserves a spot somewhere.

Or was he just a 1B most of the year?

If he was a 1B only, I can see why he'd get left off considering the other two 1Bs ahead of him. I think they look at the DH spot as a spot for the best players who were normally hitting DH, not a way to choose the next best position player.

This is a team on paper- they're not going to play. A lot of these All-____ Teams use the DH for a deserving player who may get squeezed out, like Conner Powers in this case.

You simply pick the best players and put them out there on the paper.

Do you think that they specifically picked the best RF, CF, and LF, or do they pick the best OF regardless of whether or not they played RF, CF, or LF? And again, if they did, then they are stupid.

And to answer your question, yes, Conner Powers did play DH some- I know he did as a Fr. because he hit a HR against Clemson.

But your arguement still doesn't make sense because of the nature of baseball and the positions. I'm willing to bet that some of the infielders have played a few different ones throughout the year.

Bryce Massanari and Powers have stat lines that are alot alike. He's one DH. Dean from LSU is the other DH. His stats aren't as good as Powers but he went buck wild against Ole Miss on Saturday after starting the season off doing his best impression of Buddy Biancalana in terms of offense.

Dean turned it on and has been nasty ever since then.

I don't disagree that Powers has a good claim to be honored. But it's not like he was far and away better than the four guys who got it. Also, no coincidence that the guys from UGA, LSU, and USC are on it and their teams are still playing.

Right or wrong, playing on a losing team sort of takes you off the radar for post-season accolades.

Now, through my red/blue glasses, I'd make the point that considering the proven talent and expectations that Manieri had coming back, Bianco should have snagged coach of the year honors. Manieri had five guys named to the top squads in addition to other guys on the all defensive teams. Bianco had three and one of those guys was on the shelf hurt by the end of the year.

Powers can mash though. Luckily scouts don't give two ***** about All-SEC stuff and he'll get a decent check come June. Then it's buses and take-out for the next five years of his life.

is that they had multiple players at 3 different positions. Seems like they could've done the same at 1B or DH.
