There's a possibility that Stoops misses on both of those guys and then he's in trouble. Looks like he took the commitment and will still take one of the others if he can get one of them.
That is the way recruiting goes. I am not sure we are in any trouble and I am remaining positive we will get at least one of them. But to your point it is recruiting so there is always the possibility you mentioned.

Please explain how we're in trouble? Please.

You do know we're only losing ONE person on OL this year right? Dolcine will be an OT here too and Luke Fortner (redshirted this year) will be added to the OT side too.
I shouldn't have used the word trouble. Sorry. I meant if he misses on both then he has to hope that Dolcine will wait until late in the process to flip. Sometimes that turns kids off. It also opens the door for other schools to make a push for him.

Tskware, I looked back at the total numbers since Stoops has been here.

Rivals lists (counting the 17 commits of Feb. 2017 class) 115 total commits from Feb. '13 thru Feb. '17, with 15 being two stars, a rate of just 13% of Stoops' total commitments.

And if one, or more, of the currently committed 2 stars (there are now 3 of them) gets assigned a third star, our '17 class will average less than or about where the prior four have averaged . . . . 10% to 15% 2 star kids.

And I just noticed, two of our 2 stars for '17 are o-linemen, a position notorious for under-ranking.

The numbers suggest that a 2 star recruit at Kentucky under Stoops is what your post suggests they should be . . . . . exceptions, rather than the rule of recruiting.

Best offers are Temple and UCF. Staff must see something noone else does. Theyve done it before.

Scholarship offers from FSU, Miami, and Florida in 3. . . . .2. . . .1. . . .

It seems like Stoops and Company dig beyond the "Top Whatever" list and find these hidden studs, especially on the offensive line. After we find them, the Florida schools (among others) try to swoop in for the easy meal. Hang on to this kid, Stoops, hang on!

That is good info, thanks. I am not criticizing Stoops recruiting, clearly we have lifted our gun sights in the last few years. Just tired of posters pulling Wes Woodyard out of their backside like that is the rule instead of the rare exception.

Of course, Trevathan and Woodyard never played on a team with a winning record in the SEC, and Trevathan never even played on a team that broke even. You can get lucky with developing a 2* here and there, but if that is your recruiting philosophy in this or any other P5 conference, you will most likely soon be a couch coach, instead of a real coach.

It sure as hell wasn't their fault they didn't have a winning SEC record, I blame the support football got.then.

OLinemen have to be hard to rate. Footspeed, height, weight are easier to gauge, but many have not had great technique coaching or had division one training facilities and some are still growing into their frames. I am least inclined to judge a 2 star Olineman than any other position, other than kickers.

Garry Williams was a second team All-SEC OT back in 2007 at 6'3 and was a two-star. At OT, reach and feet are more important than pure height. Some of you think an OT has to be at least 6'6, not true. I like Dolcine's film. Good arm length, punch, bend and feet.

Good point. Olinemen can be developed, it may take several years. The best O lines usually have some 4th-year juniors and 5th-year seniors with some underclassmen sprinkled in.

What difference does that make? By now, nobody should be questioning Stoops' ability to evaluate offensive linemen. Nick Haynes, Bunchy Stallings, Logan Stenberg were under the radar. Look at them now. Plus, Stoops and Schlarman have also developed Cole Mosier, a walk on.
What he said.

I'm not complaining so please don't take this the wrong way but if the staff is accepting commitments from kids like this then I'm guessing they don't feel good about Wills or Munford either one. Perhaps even they've been told they would get neither. This kid looks solid though. Hope it works out.
LOL! Wills is committed to Alabama, so it's safe to say Stoops doesn't feel good about him. Munford will probably get a scholarship from Ohio State, which just lost a higher rated offensive tackle to Tennessee. If Urban Meyer offers Munford, he is a Buckeye. Otherwise he probably picks between us and Pitt. There is still room in our class for Munford if he picks us.

Wiltfong has Munford to UK in his crystal ball pick.

Means nothing. Munford will probably decide late. If Munford receives an offer from Ohio State, he is a Buckeye. Otherwise we will have room for him if he wants to play for us.
