seriously it just seems like at this point the SEC tournament in baseball is totally worthless. I mean the SEC routinely is getting 8 to 9 teams in the NCAAs so in the last few years most all the teams in the SEC tourney are already in the regionals. For most of the teams, like us, its just another chance to get someone injured at the wrong time of the year. Even this year with the expansion to ten teams I'm assuming every team at the tourney is probably already in the regionals except Auburn. The way things are right now its much more worthless that the SEC basketball tourna ment where a number of teams really are clawing to get in the NCAA field.

Even the "playing for seeding" theory is mostly wrong. The seeds are pretty much set before the conference tournaments even start.

If it's going to be essentially meaningless anyway, at least the single-elimination win-or-go-home atmosphere would be exciting and less predictable. Plus, a team would be more likely to play their way into the NCAA Tournament (by winning the whole thing), and it could be done in 11 games (13 starting next year), so it wouldn't have to start with a 9:30 AM game on Tuesday.

I'm just a little paranoid about us having to play virtually "meaningless" games when we could lose someone we really need for regional play.

the tournament has to be double elimination. But even if there is, so what. The chances of an SEC team that wouldn't get a bid winning the tournament are astronomical. Why not let everyone in and eliminate the strain on the pitching staffs that 6 games would bring? Starting next year you could play 3 games onWed & Thur, 4 on Fri, 2 on Sat, and the championship on Sun. It would also be a much more rain-friendly schedule.
