Data goes all the way back to the 2000 season, if anyone is interested.

Good work on finding that data,
I saw it last night after I finished 'sorting' out the data and posting it the first time, later deciding to remove it and re-organize it.

The data above is from last seasons numbers.

A couple of things stand out, first, basketball can be verrrry profitable for an athletics department. Second, we are actually doing better than I thought in the money department, but not as well as we will be once we get the IPF and perhaps renovate the Hump.

Yeah, I know, we don't even fill the 10,500 we have, but I think that if we make it a truly first class arena, then more people will be likely to come. A lot of people want a new, 20,000 seat arena, but I just don't see it. We don't have the local base to support that. The reason those schools have 20,000 seat arenas is that there are 100,000+ people in the city they are in. Just won't happen in Starkville.

However, I think we could find a place somewhere for box seats or suites. Perhaps on the concourse level, where they have special seats now, we can dig under the current seats and build suites into there, I don't really know how the layout is for something like that.

At the end of the day, though, our success will come from two areas: putting butts in the seats (which increases money, impresses recruits) and success on the floor (which, if you really think about it with an objective mind, we have done very well). Stans has done his part, putting a quality product on the floor, now it is up to us, especially students and those in the Starkville region, to go and buy tickets and go to the games.

If we do our part (go to the games) the rest will take care of itself. Trust the NINJA!!

LSU from $2,217,358 in 2005 to $3,776,093 in 2008-- a $1.5 million increase.1

Does this include paying three head coaches (Brady, Pierre, and Johnson)?

Increased revenues and expenses
USC in 2005 - $5,340,648 in revenues, $3,290,138 in expenses, $2,050,510 profit.
USC in 2008 - $7,896,200 in revenues, $3,987,057 in expenses, $3,909,143 profit.

I think that can be attributed to their new coliseum.

Tennessee in 2005 - $5,360,050 in revenues, $4,503,083 in expenses, $856,967 profit.
Tennessee in 2008 - $11,495,823 in revenues, $6,551,454 in expenses, $4,944,369 profit.

Amazing what can happen when you get a good coach.

Decreased Expenses
Mississippi in 2005 - $2,325,341, in 2008 - $1,418,038 - spending $907,303 less???

About half are the exact same, but the other half are totally different.
So might be better to compare from the same collection, rather than Indy Star

is the Peurto Rico trip last year. Im pretty sure we were there for over a week with the tournament and time spent there before it started. We didnt make any weird trips like that this year so our expenses went down.
