Ark pk (I am pulling for Bama, but I think Ark gets it done tonight)

UF +1.5 (Young gators should handle UGA on the road)

LSU +6 (SC should be down after our win Sat. and the Tigers are playing well under Pierre)

I think UK beats Ole Miss by at least 20. Those guys have folded their tent except for the MSU game last week. Also, I think Alabama somehow beats Arkansas. The Hogs are a different team when not playing at in Barnhill.

Crap..........first I can't spell McFadden and now I am stuck in 1992. Oh well, we just need to take care of business at McCarthy Gymnasium tonight and everything will be OK.

They have had close losses to us and Kentucky in their last 2 road games. I dont call that horrible. Horrible would be the way Mississippi plays on the road.

Everyone with half a brain knows that Arkansas is the class of the SEC West. They are always the best team even if their record doesn't always reflect it. Arkansas only loses games when they have an off night or make stupid mistakes. No one ever beats them because they are a better team. On top of that, they have Gary Ervin & he is thriving.

Sincerely,

I agree. I think Bama wins tonight. Arkansas isn't a good road team and Bama isn't that bad at home. Their only home losses were to Florida, MSU and Tennessee. And all of those losses were relatively close games (the MSU game was their worst home loss).

Granted Arkansas has played @MSU, @UK, and @UT, which is a tough stretch for anybody. However, I was speaking in overall terms. Arkansas just has not won many road games the last couple of years against anyone regardless of how close the games have been.

I didn't realize 4-2 on the road in the SEC was horrible. By that standard every team in the league is horrible on the road, with the possibly exception of Tennesse who at 5-2 may only be bad and not horrible.

Edited to add. Common road opponants:

at Auburn - MSU won 83-64, Ark won 76-70
at LSU - MSU won 61-39, Ark won 68-52

Yet WE'RE the horrible road team???

They are 2-4 on the road, including getting blown out by Georgia.

And close losses are still losses, right? You never give us credit for losing close games.

i'm just saying they arent horrible on the road. Bama definitely has the advantage being at home, but I wouldnt be surprised to see the Pigs win. I think its a good match-up.

On this we agree Coach. I see Bama winning a close game in Tuscaloosa, but wouldn't really be surprised to see Arkansas win either.

True Road games:
@ Oklahoma; L 83-72
@ Auburn; W 76-70
@ Georgia; L 82-69
@ LSU; W 68-52
@ Tennessee; L 93-71
@ MState; L 80-74
@ Kentucky; L 63-58

Neutral Site games:
College of Charleston (Puerto Rico); W 75-49
Providence (Puerto Rico); L 67-51
VCU (Puerto Rico); W 70-60
Baylor (Dallas) W 85-78

So, in true road games, they are 2-5 with 3 of those losses being by double digits. I would say that 2-5 on the road for the season is pretty damn bad. They are a good 3-1 in neutral site games, but the one was a blowout loss.

and while 2-4 isnt good, its not terrible in this conference. They have winnable games at Bama and at Mississippi that could get them to 4-4 on the road in the SEC, which we all know would be very good.

In contrast, we have lost at UPig and at Mississippi, with Fla and Vandy left on the road. We could be 4-4 as well before its over with

Here's a rule of thumb in betting that will always work:

NEVER GIVE A MISS STATE OPPONENT IN ANY SPORT AT ANY TIME DOUBLE DIGIT POINTS. NEVER!

As for the other picks,

Kentucky runs OM out of the gym and into the NIT.

Arkansas beats Bama by 2. Later Mark.

Florida, LSU. Who cares?

Somehow I think if MSU was 2-4 on the road right now that record would suddenly be considered terrible.

And yes, 2-4 is terrible. They are too good of a team to be 2-4 on the road.

SEC Road records:

Tenn- 5-2
State- 4-2
Kentucky- 3-3
UPig- 2-4
Auburn- 2-4
LSU- 2-4
Vandy- 2-4
Fla- 2-4
SC- 2-4
Georgia- 0-6
Bama- 0-6
Miss- 0-6

exactly 1/2 of the SEC is 2-4 on the road. 2, count'em 2 of the SEC's teams are above .500. And we have yet to have our 2 toughest road games.

2-4 on the road in the SEC is not terrible as the numbers prove.

if we were 2-4 on the road instead of 4-2, Peaches would be talking about how Ricky can't coach on the road, and good coaches can win on the road.

And even if we lose BOTH of those games, we'll still finish with one of the best road records in the conference.

with him saying 2-4 is a terrible road record when it is clearly the norm.

I screwed up. I misread your earlier post that Mississippi was a horrible road team. I took it to read that MSU was a horrible road team. My bad.

that a 2-4 record is 50%.

</AFP>

Mostly, I think what Storm was hinting at is that if WE were 2-4, you would be bitching about it and saying that Ricky sucks because good coaches can win on the road. Because it's another team (several in fact), it's "the norm" and its perfectly acceptable.

It's perfectly ok for other teams to be basically losing their division by 2 games because they can't win on the road, but if MSU was doing it Peaches would be up in arms.

I don't care what the mean conference road record is, 2-4 is poor. 0-6 is poor. 4-4 isn't poor. 4-2 is damn good.

Its not ok. And that is what has made this season so exciting and still fun to watch down the stretch. UPig has to win its two winnable road games down the stretch to overtake us. We have to try and steal one of our toughest to make sure they dont.
I have never said we arent playing well in SEC play this year. You whiny <17'ers> are just wanting to *****. We were supposed to be in this position this season.

Quote:_________________________________________________I don't care what the mean conference road record is_________________________________________________

you may not, but intelligent people do. Road wins in the SEC are and will always be hard to come by. And with us finishing .500 on the road this season, we will have done a good job.

Uh Coach, Arkansas was the consensus pick to win the West. We were picked second and had to replace 3 starters from last year's team.

and we were the consensus #2 with one of the top PG's in the nation, a highly touted player in Rhodes, two all-SEC Freshmen, and a highly rated recruiting class.

How does "consensus #2 pick" equal "supposed to be in this position (2 games up with 4 to play)"?

I dont think we win big but I think UK is playing pretty well and the Rebs struggle on the road.....I expect that game to be 10-12 points. I have no idea about ours or the rest.

I think Arky will win at Bama.
