Does anyone listen to this show on a routine basis? I rarely listen to the show, but yesterday was one of the days that nothing was really on so I tuned in. While I like Steve Ellis and Anthony Craven, the callers on this show are morons. Do we really have this type of uninformed fan base? I have to believe the that the hosts of the show really want to bust out laughing at some of the callers. BB

Craven's speaking style bugs the hell out of me. Not his lisp so much....but this tendency......to speak in.....3-or-4-syllable phrases.....with huge.....pregnant pauses between.

I also dislike that neither host has a critical opinion of anything except for the occasionally universally hated Lane Kiffin type guy. They would never suggest that team A probably won't be team B for example. Steve's favorite phrase is "oh I think it will be a whale of a ball game".

Yeah, not much call screening going on either.

Its not the same without john alden patton. I think it has something to do with the lack of listeners... There would be more informed callers but its also a weird time of day

and got your entire impression of the state from a sampling of the "regulars" calling into the Finebaum show, you would think the entire state of Alabama was something straight out of the Deliverance movie. I actually enjoy the show when he talks sport with the college football guests and such but when he is just taking calls the show is more like a cartoon.

You are correct about callers being morons. They all call in not really to ask a question but to plant a seed to hear something good about their school. That is one of the reasons I stop listening but the main reason is Craven. He sounds like he knows his college sports but that week he made a statement about Ole Miss saying that their high rankings is making it possible for ESPN to put them on Thursday night. He also went on to say this is the first Thursday game Ole Miss has ever played. My thoughts on this were, how about all those Thanks Given days and night games? I know in 2001 they played that night. I might be little picky but if you are going to have your own radio show, you better know your **** and that was something that he should have known.

area for afternoon sports shows. I think Ben Ingram does a decent job from time to time, but he annoys me with his Jim Rome "wanna be" manner and delivery. He can harp on the same stupid line or comment for 45 minutes. It may have been mildly funny the first few times, but give it a rest and go onto some other sports topic. While we're on the topic of afternoon sport shows, has Scott McKinney started serving his jail sentence yet?

JA also really knew basketball, which is steve's weak point. He works up there during holidays too

Before they played South Carolina some guy claiming to be a South Carolina fan called in and asked Finebaum how big he was, then told him about how he could beat his ***. There were more amusing details but thats the main thing I remember from the call.
