I keep thinking that it doesn't look right and then I remember the 10-game all-conference schedule two years ago.

Damn.

If Cam Newton never existed we'd have been better than Auburn over the last 11 years.

They are certainly not getting their money's worth.
Cam Newton’s year (2010) isn’t included.

Auburn went 0-8 in 2012, so they got off to a bad start in the above standings.

Can’t help but wonder what our record would be with Tennessee’s schedule during that time frame. Obviously, still 12 losses to Bama.
But we’d at least be at Florida’s record during that time frame. So probably 4th overall in the league.

Damn, I knew Arkansas had been through a tough stretch, but I would not have guessed they were only two wins better than Vandy in the past ten years. Even accounting for the fact that the East has been terrible outside of UGA for a good chunk of that time, I still would have thought there would be more separation between them.

0-16 under Chad Morris hurts.

Considering our resources, budget, and strength of competition, that is pretty damn good. And we have had a tougher schedule than our in state rival for almost all of that time period.

I think the beginning of this period might have included some of the end of Franklin's tenure. After that rolls off, Vandy will really have a bad record.

Besides playing Vanderbilt yearly, they also dodged a trip to College Station* in 2020 due to COVID. Kiffin most likely has an additional SEC loss if they play that game. As I recall, we went to Athens that year with limited scholarship players and lost by 7, a game that wouldn’t have been on our schedule if not for the COVID schedule shuffle.

*ETA: A&M was 8-1 in the SEC and finished the season ranked #4 in the country in 2020.

Damn, I have no sense of time. I would have thought he was gone by then. I looked and they were 9-7 his last two years, so their other 12 wins were spread out over the remaining 9 years.

That’s a good point. Ole Miss only has 39 wins and played Vandy 11 times.

Ole Miss was hurt badly by their end-stage Freeze and Matt Luke dumpster fire stretch of 2016-2019 which was fueled by the NCAA mess. They were 8-24 over that 4 year stretch. Even still, they had three NY6 appearances and a Top 10 finish in those 12 years. Its still a tempting proposition to switch results with them if you exclude the public embarrassment of having employed Hugh Freeze.

But you cannot exclude it, because that is who they are.

No you cannot exclude what happened in the past, but you probably can going forward since everything that made Freeze hated and a lightning rod figure is now 100% legal in the recruiting world.

That’s a big reason why I don’t think Freeze would have continued success in the SEC even if Auburn did hire him. His willingness to push every envelope in recruiting to gain every conceivable advantage no longer matters.
