Scott Bittle looks like he's coming back for his senior season. With all the baseball talk over here I thought yall'd be interested.

...there've been people I've thought would be coming back to MSU for their senior years or be entering freshmen, and they've received offers that they couldn't refuse from Major League Baseball.

but you think your going to be bad *** next season?

I think Cohen can turn your program around pretty quick, but next season?

We'll make a regional next season. I'm not dumb enough to believe we'll host a Super, but I think we'll make one.

We have a little talent to work with. And Polk and McNickle held us back more than anything. Why shouldn't we expect to win? We lost to some ****** ****** teams that we basically had to try to lose to.

Edit: Won't take NEAR as long to turn State around as it did Kentucky. I think we'll challenge for the SEC title in 2010.

our baseball team just needs an upgrade. I think we can definitely turn it around and see postseason next year but I won't say we will be badass until we have seen a few series completed. Thats when my judgment will come for next years team. But all the talk from Cohen is giving me good feelings for whats ahead.

That is a huge gamble coming back and losing that bargaining chip. I wonder how many people have ever upped their draft status from junior to senior year. He even got picked by the Yanks who have tons of money to throw around. This is probably the dumbest decision he could have made.

Just wondering if he might have had some problem with his arm or something and the Yanks lowballed him.

Are you really this positive about all MSU sports or does Jean just inject the Kool Aid directly into your *** cheeks?

If I were him I would leave before he becomes Cody Satterwhite II in that Bianco will probably make try to make him a starter.

This is probably the dumbest decision he could have made.

He didn't make the decision. Bittle and the Yanks agreed on terms, he took their physical and they grew concerned. The MLB now has a rule where if teams don't sign a kid they get the same pick in next year's draft. Bittle's choices were to go to the independent league or come back to Oxford. Not a very hard decision.

Check out Cody's numbers as a closer. He was very average at everything he did.

I remember about three years ago, some Ole Miss fan was trying to tell me how much better he was than Weatherford.

we're going to be even less talented next year. We should have a good outfield, but that's about it. Pitching will suck again (probably not quite as bad as this year, but still probably the worst staff in the SEC) and the infield will be a shambles. Cohen's going to win a lot of games at MSU, but he won't win many next year.

And to the poster who says we just need an upgrade, I say ********. This program doesn't need an upgrade. This program needs to be built from scratch. It really is that bad right now.

He was one of those guys that you just kept waiting for him to turn it on and be a badass. Then you looked up one day and realized he was a jr and really hadn't done **** over his 3 year career besides one great outing in relief against MSU.

I agree that you're not in as bad of shape as UK was. However, I don't think I see you in postseason baseball next year. I really feel like this next baseball season is going to be a purge season for you. Cohen's style is a polar opposite of Polk, so I'm betting on a good number of transfers following fall ball, or Cohen trimming the fat himself. It's going to leave you with a very thin team next spring, and you'll probably have to go through another rough year.

However, he'll probably get things going in the right direction by Year 2, and I'll be surprised if you aren't playing postseason ball in Year 2.

I really don't see how you could think you could turn it around in one season. Maybe I'm missing something.

I watched us play last year probably more than 95% of the people on this board. And I KNOW you didn't watch any of our games outside the Ole Miss ones.

We will be ALOT better, guaranteed. We were 23-33 last year. Swap 10 of those games and we are 33-23 and in a regional.

We were 3-9 in football last year. Swap 4 of those games, and we're 7-5 and in a bowl. This is fun.

All I have to do is take one look at your statistics from last year to see how well you played. You were 11th in hitting, 11th in runs scored, 12th in HRs, 12th in ERA (nearly a run and a half worse than 11th).

That's a lot to have to improve, and like I said, I think you'll see somewhat of a purge of your team before this season, which will be the primary reason for your struggles in the spring. I just think Cohen is going to take a year to trim the fat and get his style of play introduced. Needless to say, a lot of your current players don't fit his style. Again, I could be wrong about this, but I just think Cohen is going to take a year to tear down the program and then rebuild it back up.

Especially with as many midweek gimme games as we play. Those 4 games you spoke of were likely SEC games. Big difference. This IS fun. It's fun watching you do everything possible to convince yourself that we won't be any good. And yeah, you're concerned, or you wouldn't be posting every 5 seconds trying to downplay all things MSU.

Don't worry about Cohen, he'll be fine.

I'm not worried about Cohen. He'll do fine at MSU, and he'll win at MSU. I'm not disagreeing about that. I just think your baseball team will probably struggle in his first year while he's trying to rebuild things. Maybe I'm wrong about that, and maybe you have a lot of talent that was simply being misused, but I get the feeling there is going to be a transition year for Cohen where he has to make over the mental make up of the team while trying to rebuild the talent level.

MSU may have a winning record, but I expect that the team will struggle in conference play.

the bet:

MSU baseball will be .500 or better next season, I'll even give you the juice.

or

MSU will be in a Regional.

Would you take either one?

and it's not because I'm scared either, it's because I think it's really lame.

That is all.

Can't Ole Miss be successful regardless of MSU? Why does the thought of us improving scare the hell out of you?
