Does anyone see Oklahoma in SEC if ESPN gets the deal? I do.

Anything is possible but I can’t imagine they want to go face/go-thru Bama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, and Florida every year to try to make the playoffs. Though I haven’t spoken to him in a while, the last time I talked about Oklahoma going elsewhere with Berry Tramel, he said he felt if they went anywhere it would be the P12 where they could move in and instantly be the dominant program in football. Even in the B10, the voice they had would be diminished playing second fiddle to OSU and Michigan.

My bet is that CBS looks at one or two of the other P5 leagues in a more limited package. Like maybe an early game with the ACC and a later game with the B12. The P12 would jump at the chance to have a 4 pm game each week on CBS.

What will likely happen is that the Big 10 with a 2nd new contract coming up for negotiation in a couple of years, will leave ESPN completely, take on a prime time CBS spot that the SEC left, keep the CBS basketball package they have, and put all their other product with FOX, including their network being there.

ESPN is going to add slots for the SEC--hard to see where since they already have them on so much, but it will be the slots where the Big Ten was.

Recent rumors have the PAC and amazon I believe being in talks. Won't be surprising to see teams moving from that conference if the financial gap grows. They are already in dire straits in that regard.

So the BIG 12 is going to have to make some serious moves between now and 2025 in order to secure better finances and good tv slots as well as an expanded streaming presence going into their next contracts.

The acc is locked up through 2036 with ABC/ESPN all rights. But if that new network doesn't feed in the money as Clemson or FSU hoped, it won't be surprising to see those two looking to exit.

If you look at the numbers, its alot of money going to the SEC schools--- They are going to go from getting around $4 mil per school for the CBS package to around $20 mil per school per year if they indeed get at least $300 mil for that package.

These sorts of numbers are likely going to cause more realignment.

Lots of moving parts here...

--Is OU-Ok State a package deal in their legislature the way UVA-VT ended up being with the ACC?

--What will OU's compensation be in 2023? If there's less than 10 million difference between SEC schools and them, maybe not worth the jump but more than that, maybe it is?

--Could ESPN/ABC actually force the SEC's hand to take who they wanted them to take?

--Would all parties involved be ok with the inevitable decline in playoff appearances that would come because of this?

Definitely interesting to think about but I'm taking a wait and see approach with this. Gun to my head, I think OU stays if the B12 is stable and the bottom line continues to grow.

First, OU isn't a "moving part". Has OU stated they have any interest in anything but remaining in the BIG 12? No, of course not.

OU is already bringing in more than SEC schools do in media rights.

This will continue (at least) through 2025, when the BIG 12 will get a new media rights deal. For everything, while the SEC will redo its package of 15 or so games that had been with CBS around the same time.

More than likely the BIG 12 will finally decide to expand in order to increase their rights package(s) up to the levels of their peers in the Big Ten and SEC. They'll still be well ahead of the actual conferences in danger of losing programs--the acc and Pac.

If Clemson didn’t negotiate a window to leave the ACC before 2036, they are nuts. I see their schedule will soon be impossible to overcome.
