This has turned out to be a pretty offensive team.

State offensive stat ranks in the SEC:
  • batting average - 3rd
  • slugging percentage - 3rd
  • on-base percentage - 6th
Ace Reese leading the way (SEC ranks):
  • batting average - 4th
  • slugging percentage - 2nd
  • on-base percentage - 14th
  • runs scored - 4th (T)
  • hits - 1st
  • RBI - 3rd
  • doubles - 4th
  • home runs - 1st
  • total bases - 1st

This is one of those years where the stats and the eye test just don't seem to match up. Watching us play would have you believing we are top 5 in strikeouts and leaving runners on base. Every single game it feels like we manage to strand the bases loaded at least once. The other night Hines came up with bases loaded and they flashed a stat on the screen that he's hitting .290 something with RISP and I just couldn't believe it could be true. Feels like 75% of his homers are solo shots and every time he comes up with RISP he K's.

Reese has been a great portal get though, no doubt. Sullivan as well although he's been slumping lately. Need to find a couple more Reese's for next year.

And now we are 6th in runs vs a couple of weeks ago when we were 11th. The bats 1-9 are definitely improved.

Our offense has had cold stretches, but I think we’re pretty good, especially lately. Certainly left too many on early in the season. I got someone mad a few weeks ago for saying pitching regressed, but it’s true. A bit is the talent we lost, but we’re near the bottom of the SEC in ERA after being second last year. We’ve had enough good individual performances though that I’m hoping we can get it all to gel to make a run.

Go look at pitching, it's terrible. And people want to make Parker coach.
Defense was bad too but has improved since we got the spots settled 2/3 the way through the season. Lemonis was so bad he couldn't even play the right guys

We’ve lost a lot of close games. Just in 1 run games alone:

Troy 7-6
Arizona 6-5
Texas 8-7
LSU 2-1
OM 8-7 (Gov Cup)
Auburn 6-5

There’s about that many 2 run losses too.

We're 4-6 in 1-run games. 4-3 in 2-run games.

Its respectable, given the arms we lost to the draft, and the injuries (Loftin, etc.). Pico / Siary have been serviceable rotation arms that have given us a chance in most games.

And people want to make Parker coach.
First off, nobody wants to make Parker coach. That being said, he problem with this staff is not enough healthy / serviceable bullpen arms. That’s a recruiting problem, which means its predominantly a Lemonis / Foxhall problem at this juncture. Parker has done what he can with this staff. They aren’t 2022-2023 level awful, even though the talent level isn’t much different.

We’re really not much different here than before. Not nearly enough sample size to judge, anyways.

Naw his *** failed in the portal were generally around 10-12 in pitching stats, that's not respectable at all. Black is about the only arm worth talking about missing to injury. We cut a good arm for issues. And if you can't see people talking about Parker as coach, you're ain't looking.
