You have Ole Miss 3 spots ahead of State, and ahead of UK?

I'm not saying they are not a good team, but they still have exactly 1 good SEC win. 2 if you count Georgia, I guess.

Correct.

They could hit a losing streak, but in five games, they are 4-1 with a win in Tuscaloosa and an OT loss in Starkville. There aren't five teams in the SEC that have impressed me more to this point.

Called being objective and I would agree with them being ahead of us right now - even though we just won at home in OT
Still a long way to go however.

If it's okay, I still believe UK is better than OM and we are not 3 spots worse. I admit that I'm biased when it comes to State, but I hate UK so I don't know what the diagnosis on that will be.

missouri and om have accomplished the same imo. they shouldn't be behind state if that's your justification for putting om ahead of state.

Man it’s just such a log jam after Auburn at the top. I’d probably have Bama and Florida some order of 2 and 3. Beyond that I really don’t know.

Ole Miss has played very well but I do question to what extent they can keep this level of play up. I.e. I think they’re a legit tourney team but I’m less sold on them as 3 or 4 seed type. They don’t have much size, especially if you can limit Dia, and they’re pretty average at shooting. Very good on defense but I don’t feel that they are super talented overall. To me I have felt like they are playing over their heads a little right now.

We beat OM Saturday? Objectively how in the hell do yall have them ahead of us? Watching the game the other night, I did not leave thinking they are a better team. Classic SPS negativity

The game was in Starkville! We don't have a win that is comparable to the Ole Miss in Tuscaloosa. I hope that I can reverse my ranking of these two teams as the season progresses based on evidence that we are the better team.

We beat them in OT at home. That would indicate we are very close and it would be reasonable to put them ahead of us if the resume otherwise supported it. I don't think it does. They have a great win @Bama, a respectable loss to Purdue on a neutral court and MSU on the road, and a not terrible loss to Memphis.

On the flip side, we were blown out by Auburn on the road and have a bad loss to Butler and a respectable loss to UK.

Just splitting hairs at this point.

You obviously didn’t read my post above. I have already given you all the evidence you need to drop them.

Well we blew out a ranked Memphis team on their court and OM was blown out on that same court a few days later...

It took every micro inch of effort we had to eek out a win in OT over the ReBearSharks. I think they paste us by about 10-15 pts. in Oxford.

You might could say that if there was nothing but conference play to judge them by, but you have to account for the other games also.

Only two SEC teams have more quad-1 wins than Ole Miss, and all of their losses are quad-1. I'm not trying to make the case for Ole Miss, but to this point, they have the resume.

I don't think they are overly talented. Their success so far shows how good of a basketball coach Beard is.

That being said, any SEC team outside of Auburn, including Ole Miss, can hit a losing streak this year. The league is loaded.

I think the game the other day would have gone different if we hadn't had the unforced turnovers in the first half. Those were out of character for us. Go in at half up 20-25 and OM wouldn't have made it a game.

Or just not miss double digit FTs. Although a struggle the last 2 years, we have not struggled at the line all year until last Saturday

Ole Miss has got the Wife Beater as their coach. And he's the kind of coach that if he gets caught beating his wife again, he'll still get another job. And he's got players.

We were fortunate to beat them at home, particularly given we were not on our game. Would not be surprised if they end up with a higher rank and a better seeding than us.

Hopefully not, but I'd recommend girding your loins for it.
