A friendly discussion with a Bammer friend of mine got me to thinking..he is of the opinion that Alabama, UF, UGA, and some of the other top tier programsin the conferenceare totally free of giving improper benefits to any of their recruits..while I do think the more prestigous schools have less going on, I have a hard time believing that saban, miles, meyer, richt sign blue chip after blue chip year in and year out all while remaining lillywhite in their recruiting tactics..

My question to the board is, which schools in the conference do you you view as "dirty" and which do you think are totally compliant in the way they recruit?
Discuss.

as already stated, "everybody cheats"...<div>
</div><div>the only variables are: 1. effort and 2. the exchange rate....</div>

are saying that all schools within the conference are cheating, do you think that Bamas level of "cheating" is less severe than other schools? If so, which ones and to what degree less?

Coming from Alabama football country and a city that produced a few major d1 recruits, a few ended up at bama, when i was in HS I would guess that bama is as bad as it gets. The kids don't talk about it like it seems some of them are doing these days but there was no shortage of cool new toys showing up.

some schools cheat worse under different leadership. Bama was freakin' "rolling" under Dubose, and we didn't get much to show for it... I don't think we are cheating "as much" now, simply because we don't have to...<div>
</div><div>Tennessee and Auburn both take it to the edge, as well....</div><div>
</div><div>Ole Miss is a big cheater, but they suck, so nobody notices....</div><div>
</div><div>Under JWS, MSU's antics were nothing to sneeze at....</div><div>
</div><div>Right now: AU is far and away the leader - these guys actually institutionalized the art going back decades...</div><div>Historically: AU, Bammer, Ole Miss and Tennessee</div><div>
</div><div>the bigger the school, the more successful the program, the more passionate the fanbase... the more cheating one could expect...</div><div>

the counter argument that you get from bama people is that "urban meyer said he got out of it bc of all the things that were going on"..which is a crock of ****, but people tend to listen to what he says..i will say, however, that I do have a hard time believing that the derrick dooley's and mark richt's of the world are bending rules without caution..I cant figure out which side of the fence I'm on with some schools

the Floridas, Georgias etc cheat, as well... <div>
</div><div>If you recall, Charlie Pell won the SECC in '84 with a roster full of paid for players... and to think that UGA and UF get the talent they get without some shenanigans, is naive...</div><div>
</div><div>what exactly are you asking? a rankings of all-time sec cheaters? which coaches cheated the most? who is (likely) cheating the most, right now? some good stories about cheating?</div><div>
</div><div>lemme know, and I will oblige...</div>

it started out as just a simple conversation ab the Cam stuff and its implications for the conference as a whole and then morphed intoquestion as a test of bamaarrogance "do bama fans honestly believe they are not engaging in some of the things that the other sec schools are clearly engaging in?"..and of course, in typical bammer fashion, he replies "no, nick saban has said we do not cheat and if you know someone who is, let us know, blah blah blah.." toeing the party line..I also asked this to a UGA friend, and his reply was similar..

So I guess my question is are there any schools that totally refrain from playing "the game" bc clearly their naive fan bases believe there are?

That someone said that everyone cheats (as stated), the difference is who they are cheating against. If a kid has offers from JSU, Southern, Ole Miss, and State, then gets a scholarship offer from Florida, they probably don't have to offer many outside benefits. If the same guy has offers from Bama, LSU, and Texas, Florida has to up the ante to get him.

Made a lot of sense to me.

I think the general philosophy is to cheat your *** off and become a top tier team. Once you get to the top and establish a name- you can cut back on the cheating just enough to keep everybody else in line.I firmly beleive LSU for one became a top tier by cheating their asses off(they're coonasses for christ sake). Bama too. Obviously Auburn. OM And MSU, sadly, could cheat and get mid level at best-so far.
