that's just insane and explains why the most popular ride is the scooters at Walmart. I was at a large box store yesterday and a couple, both appeared to be under 50 were on scooters and yes, I realize there are outliers that make this necessary, but just don't understand how so many people just let themselves go so completely. Also, I'm not talking about the stereo typed six packer who enjoys their brew and vittles that adds a few inches, having a waist is one thing, not being able to walk a store should open some eyes.
Probably need some info on the % of the samples that work physically demanding jobs as opposed to office/home based in front of a computer to glean any meaningful conclusions from this. My grandparents’ generation didn’t go to the gym and run 5ks but they were pretty “lean and mean” as a group.

I suspect some of that gap would be closed if you took into account how many people actually get good exercise at their job. I would assume we have a smaller percentage of office workers and that it would make the gap look not quite as large. But it's still going to be an awful stat regardless.
I'll echo the sentiments about the scooters. I know they get their gradually, but I can't imagine not having a wakeup call at some point. You have quadri and parapalegics that would give anything to be able to walk, and those pathetic people are just trading it away in exchange for eating lots of twinkies.
If you spent much time in Jackson, that 31% is going to seem like a low number. The amount of obesity in our capital city is absolutely astounding.
My grandparents generation would be the 'Greatest Generation' and mine were born between 1917 and 1925.
What I remember thru childhood and adulthood is people in that generation that I would see were rarely morbidly obese, but also rarely in any shape that I would consider 'athletic'. It was a bunch who were 'skinny fat' or 'weakly overweight'.
And they had tons of health related issues.
But yeah, it seemed like very few were in the morbidly obese category that you see so frequently now.

Can you blame us? Who wants to go exercise in Mississippi weather? Too hot, might get taken by a tornado, don't know what to wear because the temp might change +/-50 degrees, and a thunderstorm might blow up over your head. All of this can occur within the timespan you might try to go exercise.
They all smoked like freight trains. My grandfather was not obese but had diabetes, high blood pressure, and eventually dementia sadly. Also a triple bypass surgery. All his brothers were the same way.
I'm sure that you can find tons of examples of me berating an OP for simply posting interesting data or graphs.
