Going to have a little fun guessing who wins this weekend's SEC series. Please comment with your takes, ........ Here we go !
Mizzou @ UK I am tempted to say sweep, but will go with UK 2-1
Auburn @ UF Great match up on Fri. nite pitching wise, going with Gators 2-1
USC @ Vandy Both teams need this series, Commodores get it 2-1
UT @ Georgia Vols playing well lately, Dawgs get it at home 2-1
LSU @ Ole Miss Tigers need wins desperately, they squeek out 1, Rebels 2-1
Texas A&M at MSU Aggies struggling right now, get better in Stark Vegas, A&M 2-1
Bama @ Arky Hogs will be mad after getting swept, take it out on the Tide 3-0 sweep

Hope everyone chimes in with their thoughts !

Nice little thread BDC, looking at your thoughts, I pretty much agree. The only couple I might slightly disagree with are LSU at Ole Miss, The Bengal tigers are struggling, got sweep at the roosters cage, and OM is better team than USC, I say Rebels sweep.
The other one would be A&M at Miss. State, the Dogs are doing pretty well lately, swept the Hogs in a huge surprise, so I will say MSU takes the series 2-1.
I like this type of fun game, interesting to see how it turns out with only 4 weekends left.

I could see that happening as well. Ole Miss is pretty tough, especially at home. Hendo may have the MSU bullys playing their best ball now, I just thought A&M is getting themselves into a position of contending for the SEC west, and they should be focused this weekend after losing the series to UT.

It is so hard to tell right now.

I think UK plays well at home, but I don't think that they have the ability to sweep. If we see Haake pitch the way he did on Thursday then it is possible, but I am going with 2-1 for UK, and that puts us at 10-11 and Missouri at 9-12.

I am going to go out on a huge limb here and say that Auburn gets swept against Florida. I say this because Auburn plays quite poorly on the road. So far, they lost 2 of 3 against us on the road and got swept by Arkansas on the road. Their saving grace was sweeping Alabama. They might get one, but I am going on a limb and saying that Florida puts it to them. That puts Auburn at 9-12 and Florida an amazing 17-4.

As a rule, you should never doubt LSU late in the year. However, rules are meant to be broken. Ole Miss will be at home and they have done well at home, where they have yet to lose an SEC series. I think that holds up. Interestingly, the Ole Miss Friday guy has lost every SEC game with the exception of Vandy. Still, I think Ole Miss gets 2 and goes to 12-9 and LSU falls to 10-11.

Arkansas has a tough early week schedule with 2 games this week against Texas Tech at home. They then host Alabama. Bama is pretty bad, but Arkansas could reasonably be on a 5 game skid going into that series. Still, it isn't unreasonable that they get at least two from a poor Bama team. I think they could get the sweep and before this past weekend's Miss. State hiccup I would guarantee it. Now, I am not as sure. Arkansas moves to 12-9 and Alabama falls to 6-15.

Georgia hosts a Tennessee team that was reeling and had not won an SEC series before last weekend. Georgia themselves have struggled as of late losing 2 of three against Vandy, Kentucky, and Ole Miss in the last three weekends. Still, they will find the right stuff against a Tennessee team that has just 1 SEC road win. They take two of three and move their record to 12-9 while Tennessee drops to 8-13.

Miss. State hosts Texas A&M this weekend. I think this is a very intriguing matchup. Personally, I think TAMU is a bit of a paper giant. They are just 5-7 against top 50 RPI teams and have really only had two good weekends in SEC play (swept Alabama and took 2 of 3 from LSU. TAMU has yet to win an SEC series on the road and 6 of their 11 losses have come away from Blue Bell Park. While I don't have a ton of confidence in Miss. State and Gary Henderson, I have a hard time trusting TAMU on the road. I think they pick up two more road losses and their record drops to 10-11 and Miss. State continues to find a bit of magic and goes to 10-11.

Vanderbilt hosts South Carolina. I made my decision on this one when I saw that South Carolina was an abysmal 4-12 against RPI top 50 teams. Vanderbilt was swept by Florida on the road, which could happen to many teams, and they lost a road series this past weekend to Missouri, in which the two losses were very close ones. Outside of that they have done pretty well. I don't quite trust Vanderbilt enough to give them a sweep, but I think it is enough that they get 2 and the series win. That drops USC to 10-11 and raises Vandy to 12-9.

Predicted standings for the last weekend of April:

Florida - 17-4
Vanderbilt - 12-9
Georgia - 12-9
Arkansas - 12-9
Ole Miss - 12-9
Kentucky - 10-11
South Carolina - 10-11
Louisiana State - 10-11
Miss. State - 10-11
Texas A&M - 10-11
Missouri - 9-12
Auburn - 9-12
Tennessee - 8-13
Alabama - 6-15

Good take CB, I knew I could count on you for some terrific insight. I agree the possibility of a UK sweep is there, but Mizzou is pretty solid this year. That's why I said UK takes it 2-1. That TT vs Arky 2 game series is a dandy, I look for a split in that one.

Good in depth break down, even if it plays out like you have predicted, the race is still tight as a drum. That is, for everything but the top spot, Florida would seem to be on cruise control.
If UK can win the series against Missouri, and win the series in Knoxville next weekend, they would be at 12-12, with 2 series to go. I believe if the Cats could get to 16-14 in final SEC play, they will host a regional.

It is amazingly tight among pretty much every team. The good thing for UK is that we have a somewhat favorable end of the year. Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Miss. State, and Missouri are all beatable teams. The road games won't be easy, but they are still games we can take 2 of 3 in each series. So, we have a chance to distance ourselves from 3 of those teams by taking 2 of 3 against each of them. You then have a lot of those teams with similar schedules who could wrestle for wins/losses back and forth.

If it plays out like I said then even the 12-9 teams won't have an easy time pulling away from the next group.

Vanderbilt has to play at Tennessee and at Auburn. Vandy has somewhat struggled some on the road and could get some big wins against the likes of South Carolina this weekend, but they might also stall out against Auburn and Tennessee. So, they might only get 3-4 more wins after this weekend and finish 16-14.

Arkansas has it easy this weekend, but they then face TAMU, Georgia, and and LSU, with only the TAMU series being at home. Again, Arkansas seemingly struggled on the road and just got swept by Miss. State on the road, so they might have a huge weekend this weekend and then somewhat flame out in at least 2 of the last three, if not all three. So, I could also see them finishing 16-14.

Ole Miss probably has the most favorable schedule left and I believe they finish the year with the second best record. They face USC, Auburn, and Alabama after this weekend. The first and last of those are on the road. Ole Miss is kind of up and down at times, but I think they at least win 2 from Bama and Auburn and will get at least 1 from USC, if not more. So, they probably finish 17-13.

Georgia doesn't have it very easy as they get Florida in the second to last weekend and they also have to go to Missouri. I imagine that they lose both of those series. I think they can take Arkansas at home, but that one could go either way. Florida has lost just 1 home game (oddly enough it was a loss by Singer), in SEC play. So, they could conceivably sweep Georgia. Still, presuming they get at least 1 win down in Florida, then they may also just get 4 more wins after this weekend and also finish 16-14.

If it played out like this then they'd have to look at the record each team has against Florida. Both UK and Arkansas beat Florida once. Vanderbilt lost all 3 and Georgia, we're predicting, one win. So, Vanderbilt would be knocked out and would be last of the four. I think, and I could be wrong, but then they would look at the win percentage of the UGA/UK/Arky against one another. Arkansas would be 4-2, Kentucky would be 2-4, and Georgia would be 3-3. So, that would put Arky in 3rd, Georgia in 4th, and UK in 5th. That would hurt. So, ideally UF sweeps Georgia and we might be able to finish top 4, and get a bye.

Of course, this is all major major speculation.

I am going to say the top 6 SEC teams will all host a regional this year, and it could be 7, but probably will be 6. If UK does wind up hosting, look for a Big 10, a Mac, and maybe OVC or Horizon League squad to come to Lexington.

I imagine Tennessee Tech will be the team out of the OVC and I have to imagine that they are playing their way to a 2 seed. They are just about ranked and have won a ton of games in a row.

Nice thread. I'll guess the following:

UK 2-1 against Mizzou (lose Saturday again)
UF 3-0 against Aubie (if Aubie doesn't win with Casey Mize, they're toast)
Vandy 2-1 against USC
UGA 3-0 against UT (UT is a beast at home and a lamb on the road)
OM 3-0 against LSU (LSU is not their normal LSU this year)
MSU 2-1 against A&M (MSU tough at home, A&M is dicey)
Arky 3-0 against Bama. Bama is starting to wilt.
