If K1 fulfills his potential, we’d be idiots not to redirect any and all baseball funding toward giving him the best chance to succeed. Imagine investing in a club sport and allowing our Cam Newton or RG3 to walk. It’d be the most brain dead decision in history so I’m sure that’s exactly what we’ll do.
Most of the time, it really takes time to understand what people are working with above the neck. With you, it only took two words: club sport.
Good gosh, not this again. If we can't keep K1, it will be because State just doesn't the alumni base and support FOR FOOTBALL that is needed to bid with the big boys. Period. It will have nothing to do with baseball.

I didn't take offense to the Kamario joke. I thought the joke was more a reference to the current nature of college football and a reference to Texas lining up all those exotic cars for recruits, a few years back.

We'll come up with the funds to keep him. The problem is that keeping him will cost us funding the other positions on the team. That's where it's going to hurt us.
What else would you call a sport whose championship doesn’t out rate a WNBA regular season game or a World Cup group stage game between two countries 5 time zones away?
OR, hear me out, we could let it hurt other sports that aren’t as important.

If K1 has the type of season that gets the big boys in a bidding war, I'll put a 3rd mortgage on my double-wide to raise an extra $500 for his NIL.
In addition to what I said yesterday, also need to give up this belief as well. I know it seems as if it's a love story now, but even just a disagreement about money will send a player to the portal. So if Taylor keeps up this pace and has a crazy year, he's going to cost us around 4 or 5M. I think we'll pay it, but it's just fooling ourselves to think him leaving is not a real possibility. We're going to need to have a big year and also have the hope of another big year, to keep him.
Relax, if we win the SEC, I’ll pay K1 myself. But I want the good seating location at the tailgates next year.
Shut everything else down except women's golf, to keep us legal. I do not believe we would even make the playoffs.
Last year's college world series drew almost 3M sets of eyeballs, while WNBA regular season games average 650-700k. These metrics are widely available. You're allowed to have an opinion but you shouldn't be allowed to completely make crap up to support the argument.
Just because you don't like it, everyone needs to reassign their money from baseball and women's basketball and softball etc, to football. Is that your point?

We should all hope that KT is courted by every program with money this year. I hope the narrative is nothing but "Little ol Emstate has no chance to keep him and his production". It'll be a put up or shut up moment for us. Might as well draw the line in the sand and decide if we want to keep a generational trajectory changing talent from down the road that loves the university happy or let him walk because we don't want to pay for what that is worth. We will at least find out what we want and let everyone else know where we feel we should top out.
Get used to it. I'd a whole lot rather hearing people talking about how good our QB is and who will be bidding for him in December than about how we just lost to Minnesota. We'll keep him if we can. And if we can't at least we had a good season.
I doubt there's enough NIL to every other sport combined (excluding basketball) to match what Texas could offer to a top QB.
Would you stay someplace that only paid one player? I would not.
I think KT is staying, why? He likes State, Lenny’s offense and State has more money than most think. There are also untapped resources that if they ever wanted to see State compete at the highest levels, will pony up some monies to make this run because KT does have the highest ceiling for a QB that I think has ever been here. It is now or never, put up or shut up. I think enough will… This could be fun the next couple years!

The most attention MSU sports has ever got nationally was when we were #1 in football, followed by the Final Four trip in men's basketball, followed by beating UConn in women's basketball. The baseball natty didn't really register.
Google also says the 2026 CWS averaged 1.5 million viewers across all its games, with the championship game averaging 2.5 million viewers. The 2026 Women's CWS averaged 1.6 million viewers across all its games, with the championship game also averaging 2.5 million viewers. There is no difference in college baseball and college softball when it comes to the size of the television audience. So is college softball a major sport since college baseball apparently is?
