West

LSU 5-1 (23-2)
Texas A&M 5-1 (17-8)
Alabama 5-1 (16-9)
Arkansas 4-2 (17-7)
Mississippi 3-3 (21-4)
Mississippi St. 2-4 (21-6)
Auburn 0-6 (15-9)

East

Vanderbilt 5-1 (21-4)
Kentucky 4-2 (18-5)
Tennessee 3-3 (13-10)
South Carolina 2-4 (18-6)
Florida 2-4 (11-14)
Missouri 2-4 (8-12)
Georgia 0-6 (8-16)

Surprised by us and South Carolina starting so poorly in SEC play. Ole Miss is about where I expected after two series. Alabama and Tennessee are taking advantage of weak early opponents. A&M may be a team to keep an eye on...but I don't expect them to keep this up.

Next weekends matchups...

Alabama @ Auburn
Georgia @ Kentucky
LSU @ Missouri
Mississippi @ Florida
Mississippi State @ Arkansas
Tennessee @ Vanderbilt
Texas A&M @ South Carolina

I expect Kentucky, LSU, and Vandy to sweep.

OleMiss should win at least 1, but this is a series to keep an eye on. Florida played Vandy really well this weekend despite losing 2.

Ours series, A&M/USC, and OM/Fla should be the series to watch. We badly need to steal this series but I'm expecting us to go 1-2.

Hopefully Auburn takes at least two from Bama to help bring them down in the West standings.

We are experiencing the worst "luck-of-the-draw"

schedule in conference play that any team could have, in any sport. Ever. Switch UK/Vandy with Mizzou/UGA and we are in the cat bird seat. As it is, .500 in conference is going to be a chore. And that would actually put us in pretty decent shape if we don't falter too bad in the rest of the OOC games. It won't get a host spot, but considering the schedule strength our RPI should be very attractive. Speaking of that, Austin Peay is presently at 22 in rpi and 19-4. We are at 13 in Boyd's. Tuesday night is going to be a stiff test. The coaching staff really has its work cut out for it in the second half of the season. All this being said, in the 5th season of this staff I would have expected to have moved well into the upper half of the conference. I can accept falling in behind LSU, UF, USC in the pecking order. But lagging behind UM, Vandy, UK needs to end.

We are 6 games into a 30 game coference season and we've played the #2 and #9 teams in the nation. Relax and go change your tampon. Don't forget we're a decent throw to 2B and 2 one-run losses from being 5-1 against those teams. We've got to get better, no doubt... but there's no need to over-react jus yet. If I recall correctly, we started last year 6-9 in SEC play and finished above .500. Plenty of time left. (Just looked and we started 5-10, actually)

You're right on the scheduling. We got 17ed. But let's see what we do during the Florida, aTm, Auburn, Vandy, Bama, OM stretch.... Bama and Auburn are sweepable. Florida, aTm, and OM are teams would could get 2 against. Vandy is going to be tough.
