Based on a list in this morning's newspaper, Texas A&M takes the prize for expensive home game tickets. They're charging $100 for games with both Florida and LSU, and $90 for their Arkansas game.<div>
</div><div>Several games come in at $85, primarily some home games at Alabama and Auburn. Even Ole Miss has expensive tickets for our game with them, charging $75 (one has to wonder why someone would pay $75 for a ticket, then spend the game in The Grove ... and they must be since hardly anyone's at the games).</div><div>
</div><div>Texas A&M must be counting on fans' willingness to pay premium prices to see teams from the toughest conference (and division) in the nation. The new may wear off somewhere down the line.</div>

Yep, I wonder at what price (plus games on TV) it starts effecting the individual ticket buyer. However, I would have never imagined (when tickets were $12 and we had 28k at the game) that if tickets reached $75 that we would sell out the stadium for consecutive games.

But prices, economy and TV seems to be having an impact on the NFL. The NFL now considers 85% stadium capacity to be a sell out for TV blackout purposes.

I was thinking the same thing about ATM and Missouri. The shine is going to wear off quickly. I'd like to go to Missouri...ONCE. I see the visiting crowd being decent in the first couple years, but after that it's going to suck. I don't see fans that live in old SEC territory getting fired up to travel to Missouri. Nothing against Missouri, but the drive and vistas are not spectacular.

At least in Dallas, area businesses that benefit from football being on TV had a pact to buy out x% of tickets when the game wasn't quite sold out. I know Kroger did. Game day is big business when a million or so people in the local population are going to buy extra beer and food for the game.

Affecting the individual buyer...look right here. As the deadline approached for buying away game tickets, I was in a spot where I had to tighten spending, so I passed on Egg Bowl tickets. Might get some later, I dunno.

$100 a ticket is only a little more than they have been in the past. You have to remember Houston (4 million people) is 90 miles away. SanAntonio and Dallas are a short drive also. In addition, They have 33,000 student tickets in an 83,000 seatstadium. They have/can to charge so much more to make money.<div>
</div><div>A&M is expanding or building a newstadiumof around 100,000. <div>

maybe 50 miles from Athens (depends on where you measure from in Atlanta) and I don't think Georgia has any $100 tickets. And Ga Tech is zero miles from Atlanta (but few people go to their games) and tickets are pretty cheap for them. Of course ... they ARE in the ACC ....<div>
</div><div>I think A&M is trying to capitalize on the "big boys" coming to town ... and there's nothing wrong with that if they can fill the place up. It's simply supply and demand.</div><div>
</div><div>I wonder what they'll charge for our game in 2013. And I wonder what they're charging for Ole Miss this year.</div>

TheAtlantametro has 5.3 million. Houston metro is 6.0 million. Dallas-Ft Worth metro (3 hour drive) is 6.5 million. SanAntonioMetro (3 hour drive) is 2.1 million people.<div>
</div><div>Tickets to A&M games have been in the $70-90 range for years. </div><div>
</div><div>They may be raising the price this year, but not extreme to what they have in the past. I bet our game will be around $100 next year.</div><div>
</div><div>Ole Miss sets the price since they play in Oxford this year.</div><div>
</div><div>The big 12 only required 2,500 visitor seats. The SEC requires 8,500. A&M and Mizzou got a waiver for this year to have just 6,000 visitor seats.</div>

decent scenery through that area. If I remember correctly it looks a lot like the interstate west of Little Rock when heading up to Fayettnam.

tickets are $70. I've been to a bunch of USC games the past two years and $50 for tickets against no. 1 Alabama was the most I ever paid. Usually can get scalped tickets for face or below in the lower level. Its getting really crazy really quick.

Source, census.gov. 2010 census ... latest estimates are not yet available for cities.<div>
</div><div>Atlanta: 420,003 in 133.15 square miles</div><div>Houston: 2,099,451 in 599.59 square miles</div><div>
</div><div>And neither is really relevant. The metro population is what's important.</div><div>
</div><div>And granted, the drive from Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and DFW is easier (to me) than from Atlanta to Athens.</div>

It is a consistent annoyance to me that Atlanta = Houston. <div>
</div><div>I have lived in Houston since the late 90's and have always beenpuzzledby several things with A&M.</div><div>
</div><div>

They have 3 metro areas with over 2 million people each within a 3 hour drive and only have an 83,000 seatstadium
Out of the 83,000, there are33,000 student tickets (48,000 home alumni tickets-- less than the number of students that attended over the last 4 years)
Charge so much for the remaining tickets, with PSL's but have very few suites and club seating.
<div>To me, A&M is a sleeping giant. Imagine if MSU had 14 million people in a 3 hour drive. We'd have a 150,000 seatstadium</div></div>
