Big D (tongue-in-cheek). But next year maybe you can enjoy one of our nice 30 plus days of 100+ degree summers. But Big D does have a semi-active alumni assoc and gets together for game watching and other special events. The twin cities (Dallas/Ft Worth) has plenty of man-made entertainment venues (restaurants, bars, theaters, Cowboys, Rangers etc) but not much in the way of natural beauty. We do have an native american indian casino 60 miles north across the Red River in Oklahoma. It is huge, bigger than the combined Choctaw casinos in Philadelphia. Welcome home, boy.

As the song goes. Welcome to the lone star state. It would be nice if all the local chapters ( Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston) would get a tailgate together for the Houston game this year.

Texas is the greatest nation in the United States. I plan on moving out that way as soon as my wife finishes grad-school next may. If you like bass fishing you will be smack dab in the middle of some of the best lakes anywhere. I have a friend who owns a business near Lake Fork and a 20-year pro who knows the lake better than anyone. You get the chance you need to make the trip.

No state income tax makes Dallas a much more desirable place for me... Moved here from Los Angeles so I miss the beach but you can't be the quality of life.

I actually keep up with whats going on in Austin on different forums because I enjoy the city so much and knew that was very likely to happen.
Love the new buildings downtown on the skyline especially the austonian

First thing I gotta figure out is this whole energy bidding deal..craziness to somone from MS/AL to be be able to pick from seriously over 15 different power companies who bid their energy.

Check out the Power to Choose website. And go with at least a one year contract. NG prices have been trending down, and that pretty much determines how much you will pay for electricity here. No, it's not as cheap as Mississippi, but I know my co-worker just got 9.2 cents/kWh for a year from Startex Power (a company I use and recommend). Drop me a line if you need any advice or have any questions, because I've used at least six of these companies, and some are pure crap.

And just to add some interwebs wet blanket action, though there is no state income tax, they sodomize you San Francisco-style with property taxes.

I just had to move back from Houston or you could say the Woodlands. Arlington is a nice area. Just get used to eating BBQ Brisket. Pork is not in the vocab out there.

but that 9.2 is for 2k of kWh..I dont usually come close to 1k so price changes a lot with that.
Gonna pay the half a cent more and GO GREEN.. Startex has a completely wind powered option that I got.
Beat out the Green Mountain which had a good deal on 100 GC but bad 12 month rates.
