I don't think it will at the moment. But I could see it happening. He lost his mom and I wouldn't blame him for taking money of the NFL. Not to mention he probably is really close to his degree.

That said, next year could be even more special for him with a stable of running backs and wide receivers coming back. So he could increase his stock.

The development of his passing game is definitely improving. That back-shoulder throw alone increased his draft stock. Depends on how he looks at the end of the year. I figure he'll stay and go for Rd 1/2 next season.

if he can get first round money, he needs to take care of himself via nfl paycheck. if not, he needs to stay and increase his stock. its that simple imo.

On one of the forums, someone said that Dak received a good bit of money when his mother passed away. I have no idea if this is true, but, if so, I doubt he would leave MSU for the NFL unless he was a top 2 round projected pick, which, right now, I don't believe he is.

If Dak leads us to Atlanta or further and wants to go pro, then I'll pack his bags for him, give him a big hug, build a statue of him, and call him the greatest player in MSU history.

However, next season, we have to replace some offensive linemen, but Josh Robinson is a JR, Bear is a SO, Fred Ross is a SO, and both Smokey and Myles are freshmen. We return an awful lot of weapons that could allow Dak to further improve his draft stock. His throwing has improved incredibly in the past calendar year, and I can't imagine where another year of development could land him in the draft. that being said, if we win it all and he wins the Heisman, he may need to strike while the iron is hot.

He ain't getting first round money. Love Dak and he's perfect for our system, but he's not Andrew Luck. He's a different kind of QB.

I think he's a kapernick/russell type qb. Maybe even better. But if not 1st rd he needs to come back

If he wins the Heisman and takes us to

Final four he will be gone and with our blessings.

He's got some real obvious strengths teams will like, but he's not a guy you could plug in and start his rookie year. That's what I think of when I think if first round QBs.

Sure, and Mullen to the Raiders. I mean they MUST be miserable in STARKville

Lot of hoping and praying around these parts concerning Dak's and Dan's welfare.

The money a late 2nd round pick receives versus an undrafted free agent is absolutely minimal. The first 3-5 picks get $5m a year, then it's basically league minimum.

Dak's brothers both have jobs. The guys on SEC Rant claiming any kind of "money!" claims are not very informed.

ETA: RGIII was a lot better passer than Dak and he's now considered a bust, and if we could redo the draft Johnny wouldn't be a top 2 ROUND draft pick.

Being objective,

1. I think Wilson has slightly quicker feet and more touch on his throws, and Kapernick is faster than Dak and has a stronger arm.

2. Dak is stronger and more durable than both, and can likely hold up more from the pounding that QBs in the NFL take.

3. Dak's intangibles are much more in line with Wilson's than Kapernick's. Dak can lead an NFL team.

4. Dak's throwing motion and accuracy are getting better with every game, but, where I think where he's made the most progress is when he goes through his progressions. Saturday, he hit a number of beautiful check-downs, and, also held the safety extremely well with his eyes on a few of the throws down the field.

5. Dak can really improve his draft stock by improving in two areas:

A. He doesn't always throws a beautiful ball, but neither does Peyton Manning. Dak needs to make his arm action an little more fluid, which will add touch to his ball

B. Dak needs to learn to put more air under his deep ball. He's pretty accurate down the field, but more or less throws a line drive. He needs to learn to air it out and allow his receiver to run under it.

I'm nitpicking the crap out of him here. Let's be honest, the production we are getting out of the QB position is incredible.

True, but both of those players are head cases and fragile. Dak is neither.

I don't know if it's true or not and their tools and bodies are a little different, but, due to intangibles and general football aptitude, the team that drafts Dak will think they are drafting Russell Wilson. Not Manziel or RG3

If you think the Tim Tebow comparisons are strong now, just wait until that happens.**

Don't I remember Banks and Slay getting a signing bonus of somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 Million? Does an undrafted free agent get that?

I talked to an agent Fri night who's job is to know these guys from the southeast. He said the scouts are saying Dak needs to stay another year. Said great athlete, leader, but needs to polish his passing skills. That was before the A&M game. I asked him what if those skills are polished by the end of the year. He said who knows. He said the scouts are looking hard at B Mac, of course, Preston, and Clausell & thinks Day has a shot.

Nope. Needs another year of seasoning before he goes to learn under Brees.

RGIII isn't a head case. Far from it. If we're praising Dak for being a competitor and a gym rat, we should have positive feelings for RGIII also. Guy has fire. Just isn't good. And for all of Johnny's ability to be a ****** person, his skillset doesn't seem to be translating at the next level either. It's obvioisly still early, but any time he's seen action he looked like a dud. That includes practice (practice?!).

Don't I remember Banks and Slay getting a signing bonus of somewhere in the neighborhood of $2 Million? Does an undrafted free agent get that?

No, but their base salaries aren't very far off. If you look at Skinner, a fringe NFL prospect who's been signed, waived, signed, demoted, and brought back up, he makes $500,000/yr (same amount as our buddy Ballard). That's obviously not factoring in the amount of money they're not paying him when he's on the practice squad and whatever. Remember, NFL money is far from guaranteed.

Is there incentive to get drafted in the 2nd over the 5th? Absolutely. Which is why if Dak were hypothetically projected a first rounder, I'd think he'd leave. But he's not. And he looks to add a lot by not only an extra year of training, he gets to be "the guy" during next off-season. That's usually the best way to up your status.

There's a whole lot of pagentry surrounding getting drafted, but in terms of $$$$... It's not what it used to be. If you're good enough to play for 5 or more years in the league, you'll get yours. It just won't be on your initial contract.

Both of his brothers have jobs and one works in Texas I believe. I don't know where someone thought they heard they were in dire straights and needed Dak to get a job, but that's BS. Sounds racist to me.
