Here come the trolls. It's no wonder the ole miss trolls are out in full force against him. We finally have someone taping into our wealthy donors. The "poor ole Mississippi state" that has no money is no longer holding up. No we don't have the number of wealthy donors that many other SEC schools have but we have a lot of people with money that are starting give back and I'm amounts they haven't before. Any state person trying to push him out should just remember the last few before him. Yeah some of the hires haven't been grand slams but they're usually a 50/50 anyway when they come here with all our 'limitations'.

Plenty of Ole Miss trolls in disguise on this board for sure. I like this place, obviously, but that is it’s biggest negative and always has been.

To go off your point, with the extension, did he do something miraculous behind closed doors with the baseball search lol?

He signed the extension in February. 2025 Baseball has nothing to do with the extension.

Blackmailing donors is certainly a novel approach.

We will see how good he is if the football team only wins two or three games.

He's already proven he's not scared to fire coaches, but this is a complete rebuild of our football program & Lebby will have a chance to do that

It's not 2008. You don't rebuild like you use to anymore. You can't build like that when guys can transfer out twice a year. You build your team after spring practice because those guys are stuck with you until December then they are probably gone. The process starts over. Every year going forwards until things change this is how it's going to be. He missed last season with the 60 plus guys he brought in. I cut him some slack because he hadn't gotten his feet wet. He brought in 60 plus new guys this season. How many times in today environment do you allow a coach to miss? If they only win three games and they keep Lebby I will be ok with it but if they only win three games, keep Lebby and he doesn't make any changes then Selmon has to answer for it.

When your NIL isn't in the top half of the conference it's pretty much the same. The teams with big money can say it's different, but it's not for us as much. The previous coaches left us with no talent and we couldn't even field a dadgum scout team last year. I don't think some of you realize how bad it has been. We'll win 4-6 games this year maybe. But when the whole roster is flipped like this, you never know the problems.

Someone on some message board or another suggested that a sticking point in the baseball search was the perceived instability of the AD position. So the announcement may have been to help with that.
It’s been rumored for a while that he had signed an extension.

And announcing it in February would’ve sucked because we were following up a horrific football season with a tanking basketball one.
So, he gets a “win” by making an obvious move and we get to point to him doing his job.

I remain neutral on Selmon until I see results in at least one of the Big 3 that can be tied to his decisions/efforts. He’s probably better than Cohen, but that’s a low bar.

How was this basketball season tanking?? Also what if we announced the extension after winning in Oxford then following that by dominating top 10 A&M? Would that have been an acceptable time to announce?

I’ve been skeptical of him. He got off to a slow start. But his reputation is as a fundraiser and he’s made progress there (even if it only narrows the gap between us and 15th in the league).
He clearly made the right decision on Lemonis and earns points for not waiting until the end of the season. That was not the easiest way out, to be sure.
He’s said the right things about hiring a replacement, easing concerns that he might go super cheap. Obviously we haven’t made the hire yet but the names connected with the search are promising.
The announced facilities upgrades are a good start. The CFO hire we just announced seems like a good step. We’re not just sitting on our hands and making excuses about not having any money, which seemed to be the approach for a while.
I don’t know, I’m just a little more optimistic than I have been.

Selmon doesn't constantly tell us we're poor and we can't like The Templetonopians
Why do I feel like that JUST changed, though? “We can’t afford LED lights.” “We can’t afford to buy out Lemonis.” “All facility upgrades are on hold.”
Do they feel like they have clarity now with what the House settlement will be regarding paying players? Am I the only one who feels that shift?
