From today's CL:

"This is not a test we like," Freeze said. "It's not something we're excited about. But we have to respond, or we'll be in for a whipping against a good football team."

What a *****.

It's bad getting beat especially against a team that is not even your rival. ****

Translation: We're focusing on recruiting. That's what our fan base cares about most.

We will finish ahead of them in the SEC rankings for the fifth year in a row. I get it. I would love for us to turn all of our attention to our other rival, Bama, and leave OM in the dust. But we will always be joined at the hip and beating them is important in so many ways. I'm fascinated how the denial knows no limit when they say LSU is their real rival. Hell they haven't finished ahead of LSU in 6 years if LSU wins on Thursday. Maybe they should make Vanderbilt their rival. On second thought.

Haven't the 'FOOMers been telling us this for years? Only posers really "care" about the end-of-the-year, in-state rivalry games.
It's not something we're excited about
One of the oldest rivalries in college football just doesn't have that special "it" factor kids are looking for these days. It's beneath them. The trophy isn't even some weird Georgia O'Keefe-looking monstrosity.

I haven't read the article but the implication to me is that the "test they're not excited about" is responding to a failed second half of the season, not playing Mississippi State.

Without reading the whole article it sounds like he is laying the ground work...

.....in case they lose. "Guys into,do you we weren't excited about the game. I just couldn't get the, up for it."
