Of the three major universities in the state, Ole Miss was the obvious choice.

Therefore, I'm glad they're good representatives. I just hope like hell some inbred %%@@ doesn't screw it up for us.

Seriously, do you not think Ole Miss is a bit more "political" than MSU?

What, like 80%* of the state's elected officials are from Ole Miss.

It's not something to be ashamed of, it's just not our school's focus.

*Plucked solely out of jmbeck's ***. It has no basis in actual fact.

Sorry man, but you have no clue who i am or im sure you wouldnt be talking like you are. Second, im extremely proud of our state to have such an event held here. I was half jokingly saying that hoping people like you wouldnt be such a ***** and just understand what I meant was kind of a joke.. I am happy but as posted above, i hope someone doesnt show their ***.

The Ford Center definitely played a major role in landing the debate over 16 other applicants. It is a fine facility, probably the finest in the state and one of the best in the south. The best thing about it is seeing the state of MS portrayed in a very positive light. I'm just relieved that we didn't have some idiots show up on campus and make a mess of things in front of the press. Looks like it will go off without a hitch.

makes it the OBVIOUS choice.

I mean, if that is your criteria, then fine. But, damn, that's no so damn obvious to me. Maybe we should have had it in Kenneth Stoke's const....cocit....uh, the people that vote for him's district......he is a community planner.

Seriously, are you just trying to back up a weak statement after the fact? Oh well. To each his own. I say we are the people's University. I say we have more students. I say our President is not a pompous jackass. And that's enough not to make it an OBVIOUS choice.

Aside from the debate itself, from watching all the coverage over the last two days and reading a lot of the articles and thoughts of the various media, I think some old wounds were finally healed not only for Oxford but the state as a whole. That's not to say perceptions held by the general public in other parts of the country will change overnight, but it was a damn good start and the greatest opportunity we've had to improve our image in decades.

To think the first black presidential candidate (with a major party nomination) will sleep on the OM campus tonight. Damn.

I disagree with that analogy. One is a new $30 million 21st century theater and the other is a $25 million renovation of a historic 19th century opera house. A better analogy is Ford is to Riley as Tropicana Field is to Fenway Park.

My weak argument is that Ole Miss has more of a political focus than Mississippi State.

But, once again, that's from someone that is proud that the state of Mississippi was host of a presidential debate, and not someone that interjects a sports rivalry into the rest of my life.

That's cool though. You go ahead and stay bitter.
