For one, I was recruited by several SEC schools and in the end, I chose to go to MSU. It was the best decision I ever made but, with that being said, here are some things you all need to think about before bashing Dan...... 1) Starkville is the smallest college campus/ townin the SEC and YES, it isa suitcase college. 2) The choice between Auburn and Ms State had nothing to do with money. Please stop blamming every recruit we lose on money, that was nothing but a movie where Nick Nolte paid Anfernee Hardawayto play....... I know, every one of you has a friend that got paid to play....... NOT F'N true. 3) We will never, ever get the 4-5 star recruits so please, stop with worrying about it. Dan Mullen is the best thing that has ever happend to MSU and I played for the KANG.

Maybe not all get paid, but the blue chip players do. And yes, I have a friend that played at MSU and he was given cars and money, he is still around MSU and was one of the greats. You don't think Pernell came just to play for Torbush do you?

was able to land Pegues, who I believe was a five star, or no worse than a four star. Russell was a four star, I believe to.

But I do agree in general- we're not going to get a lot of 4-5 star guys typically. Most of the ones that we do get are likely going to be from Mississippi, which again, is why I think that Dan's recruiting strategy is a good one as far as recruiting Mississippi first.

Realistically, we're going to get 1-3 four-five star guys a year.

If we want to recruit better, we simply have to win. I believe that we now have the atmosphere and fan support and the facilities to compete with most anyone. We also have an attractive offensive and defensive scheme that I think the players are going to like to play in. So, there's one thing left to do- get that extra inch and go to a bowl. I don't care if it's in Boise- we just need to get six wins and to go to a bowl. I firmly believe that we will indeed do that.

Starkville is bigger than Oxford and if you're talking about campus acreage, MSU has, by far, the biggest campus in the SEC. And we had 8 4-stars last year so don't give me that "we'll never get the 4 or 5 stars" crap.

If your asking me, I was there when a car was given to him. My dad played a key role in him coming to MSU, I still have the signing day picture when he signed with MSU and my dad was at the table with him, and he was not his coach. I posted this because some people need to wake up, players are being paid, we just have to step it up.

then there's a good chance that it happens at the Div. 1A level. My wife dated a basketball player in college back in the early 80's at a Division 2 school in a neighboring state. I would guess their home attendance for games was maybe 2000 or so. Their players were given extra money for this and that which is clearly against NCAA rules. Now, compare that example to SEC football where attendance reaches close to 100,000 per game (depending on the school), television revenue is in the millions, and bowl revenue (esp. BCS bowl) is astronomical. You don't think the elite players are getting "something for their efforts"? C'mon man!!

However, since you bring it up, I'm absolutely SHOCKED that with so many people that know for an absolute fact that MSU is or has been paying players that we haven't ever been nailed for it. How is it possible that we have so many people that are so 17-ing good at keeping secrets. Even if I were to believe it, it just pisses me off even more because, apparently, we suck at cheating too. If we are going to buy players, we might as well buy some good ones.
