This is exactly why I hate ole miss...

Was eating lunch in Jackson today and I overheard some dude talking about the upcoming OM vs Alabama game. The guy a professional looking man probably late 30's/early 40's. He was talking to some bleach blonde that was either his wife or his mom. Here are some of the gems I can remember. I wish I had written it all down.

#1 "OM is so explosive on offense that Alabama will have a hard time stopping them"
#2 "If Alabama somehow manages to beat Ole Miss, it will be the first really good team that they have beaten."
#3 "Alabama is pretty talented, but I don't think that they can hang with OM"
#4 "Alabama defense has trouble with no huddle offenses, so OM should win."
#5 "Alabama has good players, but their quarterback is not that good"
#6 "OM should beat Alabama if they don't make mistakes"

This was us last year....... However, I fully expect Ole Miss to be competitive in this game. You have to give credit where credit is due, and Freeze has done a damn good job with arguably less overall talent than we have.

This was us last year? Ha , ********.

Any state fan with half a brain knew we didn't have a chance against alabama last year,
but were cautiously optimistic about at least keeping it close.
And the "we believe" clowns were pretty hilarious
Next week the ole miss delusion will be at an
all time high, I can't wait to watch it.

yeah that's why we came up with the slogan "we believe"

Yeah we were cocky as **** let me tell ya... it was more like I hope we can keep it close.

Every time I say something like UM will get beat, or be blown out in this game or that game, I am normally proved incorrect. So I am going to shut my mouth and hope that what I think is going to happen, happens.

Heard the same

from a bear at work a couple of days ago. Almost word for word. May even have been the same bear that you saw at lunch.

Then you're delusional.

2. aTm is better than OM
6. So if both teams play their best, you think OM wins?

Where does it say that Bama plays their best as well? It just says "OM should beat Alabama if they don't make mistakes"

Alabama has not played their best yet this season...not even close. The fact that this game is in the first half of the season bodes well for OM. I hope to God I am wrong but I got a feeling that them son of bitches beat Bama.

So you're assuming bama will make mistakes? If OM and bama both play mistake free, you think OM wins?

I agree bama hasn't played their best, but saban will have them there soon. That doesn't bode well for OM. Oh and bama's defense struggled mightily against aTm, but Manziel > Wallace and it isn't even close. Can Wallace hit receivers 30-40 yards downfield right now? He hasn't yet. Can Wallace outrun bama lb's on scrambles? I don't think so.

I think it will take a little longer for Saban to have them playing their best. Saban announced yesterday that he's reopening the starting rotation at corner. Could be interesting to see what he does with his secondary against the bears. I expect the game to be tighter than expected.

Any rational Ole Miss fan knows we have about a 4% chance at beating them. And that 4% means that we play the best football we have in years and Alabama makes several mistakes.

It's not like we are hanging "I Believe" banners on Starkville's water towers.***

I'm an ole miss fan and regular spirit reader. This guy is an exception if that's what you heard. I, along with others, think we will score and keep it close. I also know the ball isn't round, so anything can happen in a close game, but I haven't heard anyone expecting to win. The attitude seems to be we are playing with house money. The team and fans are not going to fold because of losing in Tuscaloosa, that's just wishful thinking on your part.

By the way, I would have taken 3-4 start in a second before the season started. 4-3 really sets this team up nicely and I believe we get there.

Me too. AL appears to be a little off this year to me. Still very good, but not the same team as previous years. Perhaps they will be by the end of the year though.

I am surrounded by bears at work, my wife's a bear, and I have heard nowhere near the optimism about OM beating Bama as I'm hearing from this board. If I suggest if the stars line up just right, they can beat Bama, they roll their eyes and go: "Yeah, right." What I'm hearing is they hope to not get embarrassed by Bama, beat Auburn and at 4-1, get Game Day on campus for the home SEC opener with ATM.

NO WAY they beat Bama. Get real.

Why not?

#1. They are very explosive on offense. I think they have shown that against Vandy and when beating the breaks off of Texas.

As said, you have got to give credit where credit is due. They are a good football team with a lot of momentum.

It's @ Bama but I still think OM makes a hell of a game out of it (and maybe winning), but to sell them short is ignorant. They have come A LONG WAY from the Nutt era that seems so distant.

We've taken a back seat if you haven't noticed. Mighty Mullen mouths off at any opportunity and I'm tired of it. Let your play do the talking.

He goes up in these Mississippi folks' humble homes with his big yankee snake oil pitch and it doesn't connect. He's too arrogant and that is one thing that the hospitable people of Mississippi are not fond of.

He does get players ready for the NFL, sure, but if you don't win -- or at least compete? -- then those draft picks are useless.

It's time to cut him free. He wants to move on and we know it. Let him.

And let the world know that:
WE WANT MARK HUDSPETH

-- Ramble over --

*Back to the post:

A lot of it is Guff amongst the uninformed barstool "experts", but they do have reason to be giddy.

#2. Idiotspeak.
#3. I think they can, and it will be a competitive game.
#4. They have, in the past, had trouble with no-huddle. (See vs. Utah) That alone does not give OM a W however.
#5. As much as I do not like him, I disagree with this statement. AJ McCarron is a great college quarterback.
#6. I very much agree, with the addendum that Bama makes a few boo-boos

They're the defending national champs, ranked #1 in every poll--AT HOME! I'll bet the line is 20 points. And the over will be 90.

Them bears from miss might do it. I don't care if they do or don't. But at least they are playing hard. Trips me out how some of you try your best to down the bears to make us look better. I hope they do good, make us look at ourselves and say are we pushing ourselves hard enough?
