GT player just tagged for 15 yard 'unsportsmanship' for the 'fin' move. So, it's okay if OM players do it and NOT okay if anyone else does it?

I do have a problem with that.

Think it was the throat slash after that did it. I think if he would have mocked it then left it alone there would not have been a penalty.

I don't like the fin thing either, but I think the GT penalty was more for him strutting and making facial gestures, and possibly saying something he shouldn't have, than a landshark. But personally, I wish the fin would carry an automatic penalty.

Neither team has had much on defense so far.

Can someone explain to me where the shark thing came from and when it started? I know they melted down on twitter when Mr. Chris Jones went fins up during the Egg Bowl. Evidently their fanbase is convinced they invented it and some how it's a show show of support for a deceased player. Is there a stitch of truth to that? Or that just the card they play when they get repeatedly mocked with it? Did they "invent" it or just steal it and claim it as their own?

I feel like I missed the memo on the whole "fins up" deal. It was like I woke up morning and all of a sudden they had a new tradishun.

Think there would be a quick response from our bear apologist but I think they had to make a quick cough syrup run after their punt.

Amazing to me that in today's college football that you can be penalized for....

diving into the endzone on a TD but not for landsharking.

its the throat slash that did it. thats 15 yards all day no matter who it is.

remember during the egg bowl a few years back, we (mcphee maybe) threw up a landshart and got flagged for it. THAT was some ********. i cant remember if they said it was excessive celebration or what, but thats no different than what the bears do. the mock landshark is the best. its so easy to throw one up and they lose their **** about how classless it is. lol...stupid bears are stupid.

Yep. McPhee got 15 for mocking their celebration. Then, later in the game, their DE makes a tackle (finally) and proceeds to march like a confederate soldier 35 yards downfield to the endzone... No penalty.

So, does UM claim the entire 'landshark' or do they just try to say they came up with the absurdly stupid looking fin in front of your head?

Because the original landshark is SNL from 1975... And, I thought TSUN doesn't need to create new traditions? Kind of like their uniforms... traditional.... All the way back to when they copied the UCLA uniforms... (the shoulder stripe is literally referred to as the UCLA STRIPE)

Ok I'm sick if the 17n land shark! Those jackasses are doing it on every freaking tackle almost. It really makes you want to hate them. Oh wait, I already do!

Just more proof that everyone thinks it's stupid. Georgia Tech, a team that has no recent history with UM, mocks the land shark on the opening drive. Everyone thinks it's rediculous except ole miss fans.
