Always thought he is a good guy and did some good work especially with QB's. Maybe the pros will give him a look.

A fairly common approach; fire some assistants as a head coach, buys you more time at the institution
Unlike what someone at Nebraska would do Strong is going into his third year of a five year contract.
No surprise here, considering Watson was relieved of his play calling duties earlier in the year.
Watson was a genius with Bridgewater at QB........he is a good OC - but having him run a zone read or option based attack is a bad idea.
I liked his work at NU as a QB coach. Not as much as OC. Of course, working under Pelini is a huge handicap as an offensive playcaller.
It won't ever happen, but if Langsdorf leaves for a HC gig, I wouldn't mind Watson as the new QB coach. Maybe we could see if Williams is up for it as a coordinator.

IMO, Watson wasn't much different than what we have with Langsdorf. It won't happen, but IF DL was to leave Watson could probably step in seamlessly. He ran some zone read stuff before he left here and certainly knows and could teach the concepts or Riley's offense. Watson is a sacrificial lamb in Texas just like he was in Lincoln. Watson was retained by Bo because TO insisted on it as a condition of him getting the job. Bo couldn't get rid of him fast enough even though Watson let Bo dictate the offense and QB. Wasn't Youngtown enough I guess.
Neither Watson or Langsdorf have a feel for the game. Osborne was the best. Now I would have to say it would be Lincoln Riley, Frost, Herman or Kiffin.
If we're going for the best offensive minds in college football, much as I hate to say it, I'd say Bobby Petrino.
Tom had a bunch of years to refine that "feel". I recall a lot of years that his play calling wasn't exactly praised. Better players sure helps your feel and play calling. Tom was great at setting up plays to be run later in the game later in his career.
