You're comment about not making the NCAA tournament in 1999,2000, and 2001 were Stansbury's first 3 years as Head Coach at Mississippi State. The two previous years (1997 & 1998) Mississippi State was 27-33 overall (10-22 SEC) under Richard Williams after going to the Final Four in 1996.Rick's recor in his first year (1999) was 20-13 overall (8-8 SEC).Several thought they sound have been invited to the NCAA Tourney. His 4th year (2002) the record was 27-8 overall and 10-6 SEC). That team was SEC Tourney Champs and played two games in the NCAA (IN DALLAS, TX) beating McNeese State and losing to TEXAS in DALLAS 68-64.Had they beaten TEXAS in DALLAS, TEXAS the next game would be in the Sweet 16 !!
