As for our Lions, front 7 on Defense going be nasty,and get after teams.
I'm loving the 4 different backs we have, running should be good bearing any injury.
Gabe will only get better as team jells
Still got lots of players on Basketball.
Just ready to start season, and hopefully the attendance policy will change after tomorrow..

East Gaston has an influx of good young talent, but other than that I haven't heard much new coach, etc. I did near our offense looked good in a scrimmage with North Lincoln, defense didn't (same old same old). Honestly, I expect Friday's game will be nothing more than a warm up and light scrimmage for the Golden Lions.

Not a fan of the new conference. I don't like split conferences. Athletics wise (except for football) it will probably be ok. I had hoped that East Gaston would go into a conference with the Lincoln County 2A Teams. My daughter actually went to Highland Tech, great school and great HS experience for her. Their football stadium is very small (more like a Middle School).

Look what happen last year when THE MIGHTY GOLDEN LIONS played a 3A team KM 42 to 17.

But Shelby plays a few 3a teams and do fine. Shelby just beat Km the year before and don't they usually beat Km.

Yes we have a big lead in the over all series meetings.Km has not won in Shelby since 1986. Typical Cleveland County rival game that night as KM played great and Shelby played their poorest game of the season.

How many basketball players didn't play in the Crest scrimmage? Specifically starters?

Excellent point....what is the NCHSAA thinking on this one? Starters play one or maybe two quarters. This conference does not do any favors for kids being recruited. I wish Shelby and Burns were both 3a. Crest already gets way more kids to D1 schools and this will continue....So Johnny soandso has 300 yaards rushing and 5 TD's against Highland Tech, so could my granny.

Shelby guys need to just buy seasons tickets to keep revenues going and then pick a local game of interest to attend. Can follow the beat down on their phones.

Gabe Huitt, 6’2” 180lbs. He transferred in from Nation Ford. He used to attend Crest, too. I heard Darquez Lee’s little brother, Dayin, is right on his heels, though. He’s a sophomore. I was told that he made a huge leap from last season.

I heard KTC Broadcasting isn’t doing games on YouTube this year. Only radio. I guess Shelby Lion will have to actually attend games this season. Concession stand better stock up on Cheese Puffs.

Tickets are 10.00 1st come 1st serve.
No reserve tickets this year, it will be played like playoffs all year.
Games will still be streamed online. David Allen will prob do streaming game.

Have no idea what any particular stadium seats, other than Thomasville. But capacity is based on a formula for seats in permanent bleachers. Standing areas don’t count. Typically, a fire marshal’s capacity would be right much higher, if standing areas exist.

Yeah I gave what our Stadium can hold, I've talked to high school and know what number there planning on tickets, don't feel they need that many fri. But up comming games KM. SP Burns will be sold out

In Thomasville, you can count on one hand the number of games in the last ten years that have been over fifty percent capacity. Part of that has been being spoiled to the state championship years and anything less is unacceptable to many people. But a lot of it is lack of visitor attendance. North Davidson, Oak Grove and Ledford still view Thomasville as a rival. But even schools like Salisbury bring a handful of people.
Couple that with the fact that many people still aren’t willing to gather, even outside. Thomasville will be fine at 30%. That’s about 1250. Hopefully, getting back into 1A, where our numbers are more suitable, will bring some level of success and larger crowds. We’ll see.

Respectfully, the 7000 number is correct. I did the research back when I was yearbook advisor at SHS. Additionally, this is a direct quote from the SHS website (athletic complexes section):

“In 1969, about two thousand seats were added to increase the seating capacity to seven thousand.”
