Who have you heard is on the supposed short list. I have heard Peterson, but who would be on your short list.
1. Peterson
2. Graham
3. Kelly
4. Hatcher

1. Peterson- not likely, but it never hurts to ask.

2. Graham- I think we could probably get him.

3. Hatcher- I think we could probably get him as well.

so would Hatcher.

I think Kelly could be a tough get, but Hatcher would be more than solid.

many of us want Crxxms gone (I have since LAT) but those of you that have more of a clue than me, how likely is it, supposing we lose out, that GB will give him the axe?

That spread triple option offense would never work at a big schoo... oops!

Navy coach won't be coming to MSU. I think he'll be at Navy long-term. He's been there as assistant for about 12 years and has a good gig. The only job I'd see him leaving for is U. of Hawaii (his alma mater) or something on the West Coast.

I think we'd have had a better chance getting Paul Johnson before he left for Georgia Tech.

to UT. Most folks I talk to around here seem to think it will be him or Kiffin. I want Petersen and could give 2 ***** what religion he is as long as we win games. Our good Christian coach has made me loathe my Alma Mater. Let's try something different.

a ton of money and sexton said no. I think they end up w/ Kelly, but he won't be their first choice. Probably Gruden, Davis, and then Kelly/Kiffin. My guess is that Gruden already said hell no and Davis playing hard to get.

He would be my #1 choice, too, but I just don't see him taking the job. UNC will match whatever UT offers and he has just as good a chance of winning a National Title there as he would UT. Talk radio and the word on the street is it's Kelly. I would be very surprised if it's not him or Kiffin.

UTK .vs. UNC. UNC may have plenty of money, but they definitely don't place the same emphasis on FB as UT does.

and right now, I don't think it's a stretch that a school like UNC could go undefeated in the ACC in the near future, thus having at least a potential shot at the NC game. It's as likely as UT going through the SEC undefeated.

UNC has the money to match pretty much anybody's offer. And, despite what another poster says in this thread, UNC has made a pretty big commitment to football lately. He's got a better shot to play for a title at UNC than he does at UT. UT is going to have a lot of trouble even making it to the SEC title game with Florida and Georgia in their division. It's a hell of a lot easier in the ACC.</p>

They might get to the title game but will go down like OSU to SEC, Big 12 or USC if they do. I don't think Davis goes to UT either but I bet they offer him 3.5 million w/ five years and a big buy out before all is said and done. Obviously, the Gary Patterson to KSU rumor I read on here was b.s. He is obviously waiting for a better offer than KSU.

My list of coaching candidates in order:
Butch Davis (although it will really take a lot to get him to move);
Gary Patterson TCU;
Peterson BSU;
Brian Kelly;
Lane Kiffin.

But I do see UNC and Butch Davis going to more BCS bowls than UT over the next 5-10 years. UT is going to be #3 in the SEC East no matter who they hire as coach. In fact, if they make a bad hire, they could fall further than that.

I have lost a lot of faith in good guy Mark Richt this year. Problem is though, once you get UT back, you could very well be looking at a formidable USC team. Spurrier pulled in a top five class a couple of years ago, and if he finds a qb and rb, look out.

I agree, it will be tough there in the future. It isn't like it was in the 90's. I mean, Fulmer didn't just all of the sudden get worse as a coach. He's always been a great recruiter, mediocre gameday coach. The difference is, it's a lot tougher to recruit nationally now when you don't have your home state to fall back on, and the SEC East is tougher. Florida is still top notch, but now Georgia is too. SC, UK, and Vandy are all better now as well.
