My wife just got off the phone with them. Apparently, nobody got the upgrade. They found a problem and didn't update in order to fix it. Supposed to happen tonight @ midnite instead.

...........looks like ***. To use an analogy, it's like having to go back and use Windows 95 again.

Someone tell me what all of this is for again? Oh yeah, so that I can go to one convenient channel so I can watch crappy standard OD content and to pay $6.00 every time I want to watch just one HD movie "choice."

I'm comin' Directv, just hold on...........

It also does not allow you to stretch the picture on SD channels and then not stretch them on HD channels. If you go to the HD channels, it stretches them. I am going to give them a couple of weeks to get everything figured out but right now, it is absolutely horrible.

I don't like dish, so I'm not going there, but AT&T Uverse isn't in my neighborhood yet, so I guess I'm stuck.

Why did they change it? I liked it the way it was. I turn on the cable this morning and it looks like a kid in his basement made the guide. Absolutely terrible. The color scheme, the font, just terrible.

used the Time Warner guide until yesterday. Now, Jackson is exactly like Comcast in Memphis which sucks.

I started out with the 99.00 for all 3 plan with a couple of extras for HD and 2 DVR's. My grand total was supposed to be around 150 for phone, internet and tv. After a bunch of credits for the first couple of months they finally got it right. Well, then my rate continued to increase so every time I would try to switch they would upsell me for a kick *** deal. Then that promo runs out and I try to down grade back to bare bones and they say that to go back is now much more expensive. So here I am today with an 50 dollar landline, a 37 dollar internet and a 140 dollar cable bill. I'm actually fine with that for the moment because now I have HBO, Showtime, Skinamax, TMC. Problem is I don't watch any of that stuff. I watch HBO on demand. Only watch Showtime for fights and big brother, skinamax for special occasions and TMC for never. In Mid November my current "Special" runs out and it is going to be $208.00 for just the TV so I've got to do something soon.

So I call them up and say that all I want is HBO, well now it's gonna cost me to go back down to that. More than what I am paying now. The only way for me to fix this is to upgrade to the ****** everything program with even more shows I don't want but it will only cost me 99.00 per month plus boxes, taxes, hd fees, etc...
All this while seeing those "Get all 3" commercials for 79.00 per month right now. When I ask to be put on that they say there is no way to do that unless I were to drop the services altogether for 3 months.

Also - One other big problem I have with Comcast. They put the friggin porn channels right below the HD channels. Well when your 8 year old asks you what a Milf is, you know that common sense hasn't kicked in with comcast. Hell, maybe they get more buys like that. Marketing porn to kids when the parents are gone? I put those channels on block when I first noticed the change but it doesn't remove it from the guide.

Anyways, ramblin on - I would love to switch to the AT&T all 3 type program and leave Comcast but I really do like the on demand. Any suggestions?

I have about 1/4 of the channels I did when I went to bed last night and the Guide looks like my 5 year old put it together. I called comcast and asked if this was a joke or is this what the OS is supposed to look like. She told me "what you are looking at is our new and improved OS, I think that you will find things much easier to use." Looks like *** and I am missing most importantly ESPN HD and ESPN2 HD.

and have not missed it once. Well maybe when CSS has something I want to watch. Other than that, no. My brother complains about Comcast all the time. Sometimes his local HD channels suck so bad thru cable he has to switch to the antennae to get a better picture.

In the Guide they are not listed and if I type them in it displays "???" Also if I push the DVR button that takes you to the programs (I know they were deleted) that are on the machine and allows you to look at your scheduled programs, it takes me to a screen and says"NOT AUTHORIZED to order service call 601-982-0922." The Comcast rep told me that they had significant problems with the upgrade last night and that they have a team in that is trying to figure out what went wrong. Apparently, many customers that paid for the DVR service and had extra packages like HD or ESPN HD packages were demoted to basic digital cable and they don't know why but they are working on it. I have never had satellite (well my Dad did, the big UFO thing in the front yard) and it just seems like a big move.

But, since that is really my only option, I am probably going to make that move.

I can probably make it without on demand.

I did use HBO ON-Demand and I think the new channel 1 is even harder. Before, I would just go to channel 301 to watch HBO On Demand. Now, I have to go to channel 1 - then premium On Demand - then HBO. It's two more steps.

I know tons of people who don't have HD DVR because they'd have to buy a new box, or lease it, which means a contract. Or if a newer box comes out, you can't just take your current one in and get the new one for free. The only reason I'd switch to AT&T is for the box that that can record four shows at once.

busted.

does anyone have tivo with a digital box or satellite dish? i have two tivo receivers, and definitely don't want to give them up. i've had the comcast DVR before, and it's no tivo. does tivo work just as well with digital/satellite as it does with regular cable? i need to upgrade at some point, because i feel like a flat screen may be in the works for the living room around christmas...

I think it will work just the same with any service. I have the opposite experience than you, I had two Tivo's and they now sit on the shelf because I like the DVR's from comcast better. Tivo's just seemed so slow and I had a lot of problems out of them. To each his own. I think it will work fine with satellite though.

Is the new HBO on demand in HD, if so I will finally watch it.
I am an HD snob now and will not watch anything unless it is in HD.

I did not check mine this morning, but they made the upgrade right after midnight b/c my cable went out then....

must be his lucky day - looks like it was a voyager marathon!

edited to add: at least DS's guide was on the military channel. HD6 would surely be proud. or he may have just moved it down a channel, while he was waiting on Dora the Explorer to start...

available for DirecTV HD. I've held onto my actual Tivo (my second one, the motherboard went out on my first one) like grim death instead of getting a "DirecTV DVR" (and a DirecTV technician agreed with my decision).
