Should sales of alcoholic drinks be allowed at SEC/UK sporting events?

This. If you want to drink stay home or go to a bar.

Not sure what world you live in, but I’d say 60-75% of adults that attend sporting events consume alcohol before and during games. If anything I think it will help avoid people coming in and slamming a flask of bourbon they sneak in, and they can drink a much lower alcohol volume beer. People of course will still sneak in booze, and there is no stopping that.

No …. some people don't know when to stop. Don't like being around drunks. As other posters have pointed out there will be more drunk drivers leaving the games and putting people in danger.

It's amazing that the NHL, MLS, NBA, MLB, NFL, other colleges/universities have managed to figure out this selling beer thing and people aren't being run down in the streets like some of the weirdos on here claim will happen.

There are roughly 6,000 professional sporting events each season in the US where alcohol is sold....how many people are run over in the streets at these games?

Guess what? The people who are problem drinkers are drinking before and during the game anyway. Also, there are close to 100 professional sports teams in the US that don't have issues with fans getting drunk and running over innocent bystanders. So the fear in this thread is unfounded by reality.

So yes, they should allow people to get overpriced beers.

Ironically enough, most of the same people against alcohol would be completely fine with allowing firearms.

I think alcohol should be sold everywhere. Alcohol makes everything more interesting and enjoyable. However, I agree with some posters that some do not know how to control it.

Yes Sir I see nothing wrong with it. The SEC is already a billion dollar enterprise and folks are drinking anyways you might as well capitalize on the profits.

I think everyone should have a fire arm and practice safety while they carry it. BUT I do not think it would be a good idea to let fool's into a game with gun's.. No good would come of it.

Fools shouldn't be allowed anywhere with guns, and most people today are fools who don't even realize it. Therefore, logic says most people should not have guns.

There is already alcohol in certain club/suite levels at games; don't you find it pretty hypocritical they can have it there, but not for the general public?

And if you have ever been to a SEC football game, you know people are getting alcohol into the games.

My allowing sales at games, you could curtail binge drinking in the parking lots, for people having "one last one" before they go in. Plus it could help with attendance (to a very small amount).

Bring a flask? Pre drink? It’s really not THAT serious ya know? I think it should probably be sold as well but it’s not nearly as dire or upsetting as some of you guys are claiming.

It's not like SEC schools needs the money. And what could be worse than some inebriated, drunk getting in his car & leaving a sporting event & hitting and killing a 4 or 5 year old kid.
unfortunately
didn't that just happen?
maybe, controlled sales and monitoring could have prevented the tragedy

Your logic is full of hole's when saying no one should have gun's.. Show me where a good man with a gun killed an innocent person except by accident!!
There are many killing's in Chicago alone from armed gang members. Crook's own guns' and they will always have a way of getting them. There fore I think I will keep my gun's for a time when that fool tries to rob me..

Yes. It's absurd to sit and chug beers at Yesterday's before the game, then have to stand next to a KSP officer to finish the can prior to going into Rupp, followed by 18 visits to a packed bathroom. I'd rather sit and enjoy a couple of beers during the game than pre-load and have to piss all game long.

One of the reasons it's not, most likely is that there are underage kids sitting around in the rafters and anyone can hand them a beer. Change the legal drinking age to 18 and all that goes away.
