Should student athletes be students?

Carson Beck was asked during a CFP presser if he had class yesterday. His response: "I graduated 2 years ago...no class."

What are we even doing?

Stay in college with no classes/work and get paid - who's gonna turn that down.
Wish that was an option when I graduated - I didn't want to leave that life either.

I assume he at least has to be enrolled there to play there. So what's he enrolled in? When I was in grad school as our classwork tapered off and our lab research was the focus, we would just register for research hours. Wonder if that's what they do.

I know the academic bar has always been pretty low for football players, but it seems like it shouldn't be much lower than "taking some kind of classes".

At least UNC had the decency a few years ago to make up fake classes for their players.
Have you checked out the graduation rate for the Georgia Bulldogs football team, it would appear the answer is no for some schools.

I don't know how they calculate graduation rates now. So many players transfer or leave early for the draft, I doubt half of players end their careers where they start.

Unless things have changed greatly, I recall one of the problems associated with transferring schools was the loss of credit for classes. How can a player transfer three or four times and have any credits at all?

Got to admire his roster of girls he has been working his way through lately while at Miami. He was dating one of the hot wbb players from Miami and then recently he was linked to the porn star Abella Danger. He's obviously not there to play school.

That's nice if you actually buy it.

Plenty more dirt coming out about schools exploiting the grad student loophole though.
Until proven otherwise with substantive evidence against Mr.Reynolds reporting, I will go along with his narrative.

What is this "dirt" coming out that you speak of.
