Should we harbor any ill will towards Ellis Johnson?..

I have mixed feelings. He was a tireless worker while he was here who ran a helluva defense. On the other hand... he and his wife were so eager to leave Starkville that he took a job in Arkansas to be closer to family... only to take a job in South Carolina a couple of weeks later for the same reason. But now that more money is on the table, maybe 'Vegas doesn't look so bad??

What do you say?

I think we could do better and I think he's shown pretty clearly that he didn't want to be at MSU. Your salary can change somethings but if you don't want to be somewhere, you prob won't stay long.

...and took steps to ensure he remained employed.

I have no ill feelings. Whatever, either they wanted the hell out of Starkville, or they wanted the hell away from Croom.

But, I don't want him because we should do better than Ellis Johnson.

He left a bad situation at the right time. He knew as well as I did (probably better than I did) that last year was a fluke and that would be his best chance to jump to a better job and he did it. But I don't want him back as head coach because he's got no experience as a head coach and he's pretty damn old to become a head coach for the first time. We see how well hiring a 50+ year old career assistant worked for us last time. Let's not make the same mistake again. If we hire someone with no head coaching experience, he needs to be in his 30s.

I doubt he would be interested in MSU.
His *** would be in Starkville as fast as a private plane could fly him in to get the $2M salary and a chance to be a head coach in the SEC. And his wife would be right there with him.
