Should we root for Baylor?

It's quite the conundrum. You want some of the 1 loss folks to go down for sure. But them winning might help us. If TCU wins the Big 12 outright, that's a solid resume. It might help us if Baylor and TCU share the title. Not sure a co-championship would be as weighted as an outright. And with Baylor winning the head to head, they'd have more claim than TCU. Since Baylor has the horrid strength of schedule and the bad loss, they might be important to us staying at 4.

At this point if Baylor, Ohio State, and TCU win out you could be right....Baylor is closest to replacing us. But I contend that if TCU and Ohio State win out but Baylor drops a game, TCU would be more of a threat to pass us than Baylor in the previous scenario. Obviously having both of them lose is ideal.

TCU's resume at that point, an outright Big 12 Title. A nonconference win over Minnesota. And their only loss was on the road against a great Baylor team, in a game that they were up by 3 scores in the 4th quarter. On the contrary Baylor has a much worse loss, dominated by a good but not great West Virginia team, and a nonconference schedule even worse than ours.

Baylor has beaten 3 teams with winning records. 11-1 in the SEC should trump that if the committee is looking for the 4 best teams. Unfortunately, with Herbstreit and others politicking, who knows.

For 17 sake, no.

The committee will not give two ***** about whether 11-1 TCU is Big 12 champ or Big 12 co-champ. They will recognize though that TCU's loss now doesn't look quite as forgivable as it did before, compared to losing at Tuscaloosa. The committee's job is to pick the best 4 teams. These are intelligent people. Nobody with a brain would think MSU is better than TCU if Baylor is 11-1 but that TCU is better than MSU if Baylor is 10-2. Stop listening to Danny Kanell and that brunette.
