Reed can't hold a candle to holder in talent. Also, I'd like to have won today.
your arm, of pitchers that are reliable in those situations. A handful of pitchers that could be brought in to close out games in clutch spots.
They just wanted to bash someone, instead of looking at what was really said. They saw no underlying reason in Cohen only having confidence in ONE relief pitcher to close out Friday nights game. Let that sink in fellas, even though it might be hard and you wanted to bash me for bringing up a concern. 4 run lead should have been sufficient cushion for Cohen to trust a handful of pitchers to get the 6 outs. But he brings in a closer for 2 innings of work and I point out why that concerns me. We have ONE reliable relief pitcher Holder, and he cannot pitch every single inning after the starters throughout any tournament type action. We will need to score double digit runs a game to be safe. The only way to win the CWS is to have multiple reliable relievers, and by the choice Friday night I see we are lacking in that area. That was the point then and the point now.
Cohen bringing in Holder Friday night in a game that was in the bag was all I needed to see who Cohen has faith in to get the job done. That is still disturbing. Keep being ignorant and only seeing things for what they appear to the "white ball" baseball knowledge fans.
Good thing Graveman went the distance yesterday and no bullpen choices needed to be made.
And yet you continue to amaze since everyone that could have come in to pitch in the eighth Friday night had a hand in giving up 8 runs in the T5 (gentry and girado). Ill say again, had they given up the THREE runs we were up AT THE TIME HOLDER CAME IN, you'd have been bitching the other way. Continue being a badass, though. Some might think you know something.
We need to get woodruff and Evan Mitchell going. I think woodruff is turning that corner and expect him as our Thursday starter vs Auburn. I thought the 8th and 9th inning would be a great time to let Evan get some sec work. Getting polo back in the pen will help.
We really need to get Evan Mitchell going. He has the stuff to come in and get a strike out when needed.
Gentry has done great this year but i think he is over matched in pressure spots. He's a ground ball guy and he's getting behind and having to place one on a T.
Bracewell will be fine, he is just missing by a very small margin.
Girdo- I still do not trust.
Still have no clue why we won't give Shelly a shot.
Either bring in Holder after Lindgren or bring in Bracewell for 3 innings and Holder for the last 2. We have all these fresh guys in the bullpen but Cohen brings in Gentry? Yet another decision by Cohen that doesn't make any sense. There's at least one of those a series, usually more.
The Evan Mitchell Experiment is over. Cohen needs to send him packing. There is no good situation to bring him in unless we are ahead by 10 runs. He is taking up a scholly that can be used next year
bring in their closer to snuff out a 5th inning rally unless it was maybe a World Series or College World Series type situation at the end of the year. My first preference yesterday would have been to bring in Ross Mitchell just because he has dealt with that pressure situation of base runners multiple times this year and been pretty successful. If not Ross then probably Bracewell because until last week at Arkansas I don't even think he had given up an earned run all year and he is also a veteran. Putting a true freshman like Gentry out there in SEC play in that type of situation, especially given how things went with him in the first Arkansas game which was similar, made little sense. But there are a number of things that Cohen and staff seem to do with regards to game management that don't always make a lot of sense to me.Use him like 2011 Reed
