Shoutout to Husker Nation

Here is a cool story that i wanted to share from a Hawkeye fan friend of mine that currently lives in Las Vegas. This story does really define Husker fans. Even though we have had our struggles, i am damn proud to be a Husker fan. I cant remember it being a whiteout though.

The most wonderful time of the year is over. Clemson took down Bama last night and I'm sure some Tigers took some money home from Vegas. So, as the season concludes, I must share a tale.
My homie from work was a corner for USC from 2006 to 2010 and then he played for the Chargers for a year before a career ending injury.
So, we are talking about the SEC being overrated and strength of schedule. Stuff he is totally qualified to speak on (he won three Rose Bowls) . . . so I respect his opinion. Another coworker asked him a great question, "What was the toughest team you played?"
And do you know his answer??? I was shocked.
Many of my friends and family will revel in this . . . he said the most intimidated he has ever been was in 2007 entering Memorial Stadium. It was really cold for a bunch of Cali boys, there was a white out at the stadium, and although USC plays in similar or larger venues regularly he said it was "so loud you could feel it".

Hmmmm ... sounds fishy. I was at that game. There was no white out. And cold? It was probably right around 75 or so at kickoff. I know these were Cali boys, but I don't think even a Cali boy would describe 75 degrees as cold. But who knows? Maybe they would find that cold.

Cool story! Love to hear that kind of stuff. Gameday was there that day and memorial stadium at night is damn near impossible to beat. This state is sooo hungry for the Huskers to be big time again!

Memorial Stadium can get loud, but I was at that game in 2007. There was no Whiteout, alf of the fans were gone by the 4th Quarter.

There is no Stadium louder than Kyle Field "Home of the 12th man". I was at the 9-6 loss in 2010, and I have never been at anything even close to the level of noise generated in that place!

Good stuff d17, it was pretty loud that night. It was chilly at kick-off, no way it was in the 70's, we had sweatshirts on.

It still doesn't beat the atmosphere of the 2009 Oklahoma game. The tunnel walk itself was downright chilling. Second half against Ohio State in 2011 was up there too.

Nothing beats Halloween night, 1992.

I looked up the temp for that night. Temp at kickoff was around 55 degrees. So you are correct HTO. It was chilly for that early in September. So the player's memory is correct too.
Don't know why I remembered it being warmer. I remember it was sunny during the day and I was feeling pretty darn warm while tailgating.
I was probably pretty lit by gametime too. :Cool:

The Oregon game was the loudest game I have been to in a very long time. Came close to matching 2009 OU. But the latter was a night game with an electric atmosphere. What made the Oregon game unique and fun for me was that it was so loud for a day game.

I went to USC NU in LA whatever year that was BC played small ball. That game sucked.

Even during the height of the USC dynasty, you could still walk up and get tix, which we did on occassion.

I actually don't remember Memorial Stadium ever holding a white out game. Then again, my memory is not the best anymore. Do any of your remember a white out? Maybe in basketball but not to my knowledge in football.

I saw an old interview with Curt Warner (former PSU runningback) on ESPN about what it's like to play in the NFL. He starts talking about the talent level, about having to bring it every play, every weekend. Then he says, "It is like having to play Nebraska every week." I wish I could find it.

Glory days, they'll pass you by...

Wasn't that the game where we were doing well and then we had an injured player in the first quarter? The air one out of the stadium and Southern Cal took it to us?

No, it was the game where USC kicked the dognuts out of Nebraska Right from the start but Nebraska scored a couple worthless TDs late to make the score look closer than it was.

It was also a game where Suh played like ****. Or at least that is how I saw it. He was just a sophomore and looked to me like he was dominated in that game
