That is on us.

I'd have been content with firing him & paying him $192k/month just to get rid of his sorry ***. He ruined 2025 Lanorris Sellers & is the main culprit for the horrible season. Of course, it was Shame's fault for hiring him.

Yes. No one to blame but ourselves.

I would understand (as much as is possible) a stupid buyout for someone like Briles, since he's actually got a track record of success as a college OC, and in the SEC. Shula had no track record as a college OC, indeed had never called plays in college at all.

They need to have a clause that the head coach has to forfeit 10% of his salary that goes towards the buyout of each of HIS bad hires to help cover these costs. There may be a whole lot more thought before hiring if you have actual skin in the game. Right now, it like the government as it is "someone else's" money. Most people don't have problems spending other people's money, but when its their own its a different story.

We will pay him just shy of $92,000/mo through December 2027. Can you imagine? And this is for 10 months of crappy work.
Is there an offset provision that reduces the payment if he finds a coaching job somewhere else?

Find another coaching job? You’re joking, right?
Well, it appears he has had a coaching job of some sort for 37 consecutive years, so no, I'm not joking. I don't expect him to get hired as an OC any time soon, but there are a lot of college and NFL programs out there with a lot of assistant coaches.

Yeah, he's connected enough, he'll land on some NFL staff.

I am probably mistaken but I thought we gave him a 3 year contract. What's laughable is Shula will most likely land another NFL job, based upon his journeyman job history.
