Xaivian Lee is rated higher than Jaland Lowe on both on3 and 247 transfer PG rankings also. He's a good PG and shot 36.6% from 3pt this past year.
Here's the SEC PG transfers:
247 PG rankings: #5 Gillespie, #6 Dedan Thomas, #7 Lee, #8 Xzayier Brown, #10 Lowe, #11 Pack, #12 Isaacs, #26 Collins
(Fland was #1 among CG for some reason, Aberdeen is #6 for reference)
On3 PG rankings - #3 Fland, #5 Gillespie, #7 Thomas, #9 Lee, #10 Brown, #10 Pack, #12 Isaacs, #13 Lowe, #33 Collins
I like Lowe and he fits way better for us imo. He is also a junior and may come back next year. We have a lot of flux with our roster. Could go Chandler, could go Jasper Johnson. Could go Aberdeen. Other schools are mostly set with the main starters already, like Florida.
There's no doubt that the SEC got some good PGs this go around. Dedan Thomas and Xzayvier Brown are being underrated too. Plus the Bama schools got Philon and Pettiford back.
I like Lowe better for us, because he has played P5 level basketball.
Now one could argue that going from the ACC to the SEC is a big step up, but the ACC was still ahead of the Ivy League.
I like Lee and Fland as a backcourt, but the issue is:
1. They are new to the system and are replacing a second year guy (Clayton) and a third year guy (Richard).
2. They haven’t played together for two years like Clayton and Richard did.
3. They have very little experience in the backcourt with them to help them adjust. Klavzar is the top returning guard and was fifth in a basically four man rotation.
Now, the frontcourt is a different story. It should be one of the best if not the best in the country.
But the guards are the major question mark.
I am not questioning how good the guards are, but merely stating that the guards last year were incredibly talented and incredibly experienced, especially within their system.
That is hard to replace, especially with wholesale replacements across the board.
Losing Aberdeen is going to hurt more than they think, IMHO.
They will be missing that experience that he would have brought to the table.
UF fans sound like bitter UK fans when talking about Aberdeen. “We don’t need him.” “We didn’t want him to stay anyway.” “Much rather have Lee and Fland. They are an upgrade.”
LOL!
