SI -Who hired Camel Toe Thamel AFTER he made up stories on Davis and Cal and then got caught up in another story full of not followed up innuendos?

You've already predicted a USM loss....where do you see the possibility of 4 or 5?

From USM site" I expect a high scoring game that UK eventually loses. However a UK win wouldn't surprise me." Dakota25
I expect a loss but a win wouldn't be out of the question. Victory I see four to five, loss three to four wins. The other non ranked pre season teams are probable wins, however some more likely while others less likely.

Quick, can someone get me a job application from SI? I don't really have any qualifications as a football forecaster but hey, they hired these guys.

The writer elicited the responses he needs to draw attention and save his job. After all, comments like this is for ratings and viewership. That is what passes for journalism today.

Our football team will be just fine this year. All the negativity and loser attitude is certainly justified after six decades of inexcusable football. It's tough and nearly all out difficult to change fan culture.

It's our time to win this year with depth, talent and coaching. The future will be even better.

I mostly agree, but there's plenty of legitimate reasons to be worried about the outcome of this season. We need a lot of things to go right for us this year to get to a bowl.

Right or wrong (and IMO he is WRONG) this is how anyone outside of KY sees our football program. The image of UK in other fans minds is a huge traveling band of fans that worship basketball almost to a level of insanity. When they hear UK and football together they laugh. Im retired and I head South quite often. Inevitably when my family is sitting around on a beach in the South sporting UK, UL and IU garb (we have multiple fans of all 3 in the family) basketball comes up with strangers. From this I have learned that for anyone born outside of KY, IN, or NC basketball talk is just a segway into a football conversation for them. I can count on one hand the number of times I have been given a truly genuine congratulations for anything we have done in football in these conversations over the decades. Its just they way it is and until we go out and do something about it it will stay that way. By doing something I mean sustained success for more than a couple of years. Until then were going to be the punchline more often than not when amongst peers and if the shoe were on the other foot (and we were the football power) we'd be the same way. If you dont believe me watch our hoops fans. The time for talk is over, Ive heard the same talk for 61 years. Its time to walk the walk. When we do, these opinions will change. Until then the beatings will continue until moral improves (thats a joke for you thin skinned mommas boys lacking the sarcasm gene)!

Guys like him throw crap on the wall just to see if anything sticks. If he's wrong, no one cares about a nobody media person, if he gets one or two right, he gets to crow a little by saying he's an insider which he ain't. Honestly, I predict this is the year that we win one that we really shouldn't have. Just remember you heard it here first, lol.

SI used to be one of the leading sports magazines. Dumb articles like this one illustrate how much the mighty have fallen

Don't think this had been posted earlier, if so apologies for the duplication

http://www.si.com/college-football/2016/08/18/sec-preview-picks-hot-seat-2016

You can tell this writer really did his homework when basically says there is nothing to be excited about other than Boom.

And then drags out the cliché...."were all just sitting around anyway, waiting for basketball season".

Could 3-9 happen....sure, injuries and depth can make most any teams season go completely awry.

But even with our apparent weaknesses, this would be the absolute minimum of what we could hope for this year.

Don't think I see 3-9, but we have to prove it on the field, especially for any national level writer to notice. We have a great opportunity in front of our team, and it is up to everyone, players, staff and fans to take it. Go Big Blue!! take us forward!

I don't see UK going 3-9 this year, not even close to that really. But anything can happen on the field, if not there would be not reason to play the games, just announce Bama SEC champ and be done with it. I didn't see and I doubt anyone else say USC and SOS going 3-9 last season either, or AU going 4-8 2 years after winning the NC.

But to the poster who said UK would beat USM without trying, not sure UK has improved enough to do that. all these guys on every team are great athletes.

If this prediction turns out to be true, we are in trouble for a lot of years to come. A 3-9 season would likely kill recruiting next year, and the whole coaching staff would be in trouble. Many of our commitments would jump ship and, well, when is basketball season? But this is not going to be a 3-9 season. We'll know more after the first couple games.
I agree about 3-9 not happening.

However if it did. I would applaud the firing of the whole coaching Staff right after the final whistle.

Having an Offensive Coordinator that Stoops has faith in is BIG. We lost a couple of games last year because Stoops was micro-managing the offense and made some bad calls, and was behind the game.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Auburn surprised me last yeat. USC not so much. I had them winning 4 at the beginning of the year so they were just one game under what I thought.

Predicting 3-9 is just idiotic.

This writer should resign or be fired for lack of intelligence or applicable knowledge of the topic.

Either way, he dropped the ball.

Here's my question: Would it be better to go 5-7 and limp along with the Mitch and Stoops show, or go 3-9 or even 2-10 and force a reset of a regime that has failed to deliver on football for 15 years now.
1)given Stoops contract guarantees he will not be fired in 2016. Flat out, no. would cost UK scratching a check for $12 cash. even SI's 3-9 comes true he will be coaching in 2017.
2)Mitch Barnhart just received a lucrative contract extension, the Pres loves him to death because he does not have to get his fingers dirty on any sports issues. He aint getting fired either, the only hope is his retirement is sooner rather than later.

That article is a joke and so is the writer. This guy thinks we won't win a single SEC game I assume? Did he see Vandy, USC and Mizzou last year?
If he did, he also saw us last year, and we had close games with all 3 of those teams....there is very little difference between those programs and ours. Look, I think it's a silly prediction, but we have shown NOTHING that says we are so much better than all of these teams on our schedule. Look, when you have to go to OT to beat EKU, win 4 of your 5 games by a score or less, people will be skeptical. We have 2 games on our schedule that are pretty much locks. Other than that, we have shown nothing since Stoops took over that should give outsiders a reason to predict all of these wins. LIke I said, I don't think we only win 3, but for someone to predict that is not so outlandish.

All those wanting a proven head coach should know there is not promise they work out. Dan Hawkins could win 10+ games a year at Boise and turn them into a household name, but after five years at Colorado was 3-9 after five season. What stoops has done here is actually pretty impressive. He still hasn't had his own recruiting class all the way through as they are all true jrs or rs sophomores. The class he held together and added a price or two are seniors. No matter the record this year he needs to be the coach next year. You can't turn over a staff before they get the players that fits their style. If you turn a coach over every four years you will never be successful! Joker was a different animal as he was already on staff and recruited at least to his offensive style.

easier to justify us winning 8 than to do so for us losing 9
I will believe it when I see it. Since the last time we won 8 regular season games, we have won 1, 2 or 3 regular season games in 7 different seasons. I know I am being pessimistic in this thread, but Stoops has proven nothing to me yet. This is the year he HAS to take the next step and I think he gets us to 6 wins.

Taking over a team that was out scored 291-79 in conference play to where we were last year and a chance to win (probably should of ) nine games. And hasn't shown anything? We were probably the worst power five football team in the county when he came here. Now we have more talent then half of our division. This isn't ovc teams we are passing, but sec teams. Look at the ground we have made up on South Carolina, mizzu, vandy? We are getting better and still a very young football team!

Stoops has been above average in the turnaround. Yes we have had some lapses on both players and on the sideline, but young guys, young coaches, and a young staff are going to have that. We are trending in the right direction, all while building for the long haul and not just a flash in the pan season.
