National media can't get through the 2nd syllable in Mississippi State...they get to "Miss-ah..." and their brain detaches. We should just say MSU, I know we can't print or market anything with "MSU" because of those Michigan State bastards, but we should at least verbally say "MSU".

In 1972, the name of our mascot (Bully XI) was, in fact, “Rebel”.

Maybe this is the source of the confusion?

He was a temporary replacement mascot owned by an alum and served as mascot during midseason.

His predecessor Bully X was killed (run over) after Homecoming that season.

His successor Bully XII was murdered.
