He's doing the same thing Calipari did to us back in the day, whenever he'd be criticized. Make it seem like he's doing your fanbase a favor by staying.

They do this to make their respective fanbases backpedal in their criticisms and get a raise.

Self's not leaving Kansas.

Regarding Bill Self

Rule #1 - Almost everything he says is a lie or ********

Rule #2 - Understand he will cheat and ignore anything to win

Rule #3 - He is selfish and narcissistic

He fits my cardinal rule: never trust a man who lies about his hair.

This is dumb... I'm not looking it up but didn't he just win kansas a 2nd title 2 or 3 years ago. 2022? He's had two Mediocre seasons due to misses on talent and honestly hunter Dickenson probably isn't a player you can win big with in that system... he's a great player but it's not really working. And that's your two years right there...swing and a miss. I still think self is a great coach, top 3 active easily.... hell I wish he'd leave kansas right now. This isn't like coach cal last 5 years at UK... but I could be wrong, we will see, big 12 way tougher now, if he has 3 more of these seasons I was wrong. ... but NIL era, he'll get the players and they will be back.

Unless maybe the reason he is looking around is because kansas isn't acting like they are going to be able to compete NIL wise and he wants to go somewhere to get more NIL money to build a team.

I'm not saying anything about whether he should stay or go. I called out a bizarre *** answer. And that's a bizarre *** answer from Self.

Imagine if Cal said that about Arkansas

"I did talk to them... Not necessarily about hiring me, but about what needs to happen for them to compete in this league... But the part that I stayed holed up in Fayetteville... that was totally inaccurate"

We'd be demanding a head on a pike. I don't care if OSU is his alma mater. They're in the same damn conference! And a direct competitor! You WOULD NEVER give a rival coach/school about what needs to happen for them to be more competitive. Holy cow. Imagine you did this at your company?! You'd be FIRED instantly! "Hey boss I know I came from Company B, and they've been struggling. So I went to them to give them some advice of how to be competitive in our field" Do you see how insane that sounds?
My goodness. This whole damn place is falling apart.

It’s his Alma mater so I would assume he wouldn’t mind to see them do well when not playing KU, which is why he offered advice.

The problem with that is, same conference. And a direct competitor. If I'm AD that would not sit well with me. At. All.

And if you believe that Self saying that is the truth, well, I've got oceanfront property in Nebraska for you.

Dude, I was like 13-14 when that happened. I liked Clinton (he was the fun, sax playing President) and when I heard him say "That woman.." I was like, "Oh you lying sack of...."

I was sad man. Kinda my first taste of politicians are lying poop sacks. Just sucked because again, Clinton was funny and cool. Miss those days when politics were kinda fun instead of dogmatic holy wars.

When i said it was dumb...i wasn't aiming it at you OP if that's what your thought so I'm sorry if it came over that way.

I mean it's dumb for the KU fans that think he's leaving or want him to leave basically...which has been some chatter. But yea I'd be pissed if he was talking to a rival like when Cal talked with UCLA and was more pissed that Barnharts dumba55 didn't call the bluff and gave cal lifetime deal

No, it's all good. I was clarifying that I don't care if Self stays or goes. I can't stand the dude.

And yeah, I don't see how anybody reasonable would be ok with that. I mean, we were pissed when Stoops was going to A&M and said, "Nah, never mind. It's YOU guys I love." Again, a-Bull-ah-****.

He's trying to extort more money out of Kansas. I hope they don't have the balls to call his bluff, because he's on the same steep downhill slide Calipari was on. Let him drag the Jailhawks further down for awhile.
Not even close to Cal, he actually won a Natty recently.

So, if you're AD would you be ok with your basketball coach, telling a conference rival how to be better in the league?

Imagine if Pope was an Alum of Tennessee and did this while coaching here. Would you seriously be ok with that? EFF NO.
If he’s getting the job done and performing well, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

Juan Manuel Fangio was constantly giving his competitors advice on how they could go faster. He wanted them to perform to the best of their abilities. Then he’d go out and still beat them.

Helping his competitors didn’t stop Fangio from being a 5 time world champion. It was part of what made him one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time.

Ah, therein lies he rub. Is KU doing too hot right now, at this moment?

Overall, I’d say they’re doing fine. I don’t tend to be a prisoner of the moment, so I’m not one who over reacts to a down season.

But I will always respect someone in sports who has the guts to help a competitor do better.

KU fans wouldn't agree right now.

I don’t really care what KU fans think. It has no bearing on my opinion about someone helping a competitor.
I don't particularly care either, but if Pope or Cal did something like that, a lot of us would be rightfully pissed.

I would imagine that good coaches get asked all the time about this kind of thing. Probably gives them a chance to recommend an assistant for jobs or keeps channels open if you ever have an assistant that you want to help get a better job.

Yep. Nobody around here seemed to mind having St. John’s head coach talking up our new coach.
